quick question on Voltage

I just recieved a 5.0V mod in the mail and I am curious about something. The mod is supposed to be 5.0V but when I tested it the multi-m shows 7.9-8.0V. I know the Voltage is higher with out load but this seem a lil high (I am a noob though). Also getting 0.4-0.6V unactivated.

Batts: 2 X ICR 123 750mAh 3.7V li-on AW protected (MM shows 4.2V fully charged)

Whats the mod? are you testing past the regulator?
It sounds like you have a short in the mod.
Regulators put out 5.0V. There should not be a voltage drop when loaded with a regulator. The regulator will regulate the voltage and feed current to make up for any draw.

Depends if it is resistored or not. The GLV gives battery voltage when not under load, and 5V when an atty is hooked up.

I talked to the person that made the MOD and the 8V is normal, so it's all good.

The 8v unloaded but activated could be leakage being measured by the 10 megaohm DMM. The same for the .4 volt unactivated. It's sort of there and sort of not there at the same time If the insulation is poor then you will have leakage current.
If the mod is resistor dropped to 5 volts the 8 volts would be perfectly normal.

Anything less than a 3 Ohm atty will cause a drain rate on the cells in excess of manufacture recommendations.
