Ok so I only currently own 1 18650 awt imr 40 a but I own a box mod and a mech so can I use the battery for both ?

Yes. As long as it fits! Well, and you follow safe battery practices. But if you go to imrbatteries.com you can score batteries for wicked cheap.
Switching back and forth is fine, but a spare or two will make vaping better when you have to charge the one you have..
