Hello Forum,

I own a target pro mod, AWT IMR 18650 3000Mah 3.7v 40A (I know it's a good 20 according to Mooch) Battery.

My tank is a uwell,

My question is:

When i vape at 40W i get a voltage of around 5.1 or 5.2, but the battery says 3.7, is that over powering the battery? or the voltage written on the battery is different than on what my mod is reading,

Thank you!

Hi Temz, and welcome!

First, the 3.7 volt designation is what's called a "nominal" voltage. Think of it as sort of an average value. The actual voltage of the batteries we use actually varies from 4.2 volts at full charge to around 3.3 - 3.5 volts, which is around where a lot of regulated mods consider the battery "empty".

Secondly, the voltage that you are seeing displayed by the mod is the voltage created by the regulation circuit and applied to the atomizer.

Regulated mods have circuitry that take power from the battery and produce a steady voltage output depending on your selected power.

Short answer? You have nothing to worry about, your device is functioning as designed.

Vape on!

When you are into it you should try the RBA for the Crown. I've got about 6 Crowns and switched them all over to the RBA and saw a significant improvement in their performance. The RBA is quite small and I've found it works best for me with a SS316L wire, 24 awg, 3 1/2 wraps, 3 mm ID & tight coil, and wicked with rayon (cellucotton). Once installed lift the coil upwards away from the airflow giving more room for both the air and the wick. The RBA is known to leak easily but with the larger ID coil and the rayon it seems to work well for stopping the leaks and in wicking it I just cut the wick off even with the bottom of the juice well and tuck it in neatly after replacing the RBA's cap (no need to fold it over as that slows its ability to wick and may give you dry hits). Still can't fill from the top with out leaking but its not hard to bottom fill.

Throw that onto a TC mod at about 380 to 400 F and she works like a charm. :thumb:

Hey STM, thanks a lot for this info man :) I am still trying to learn about batteries and basics for now, still pretty new to all this, TC still scares the .... out of me, i'll need to do more reading on that.

After months and months using just power I finally tried TC and found it worked a lot better. No more trying to judge how long to fire to avoid a dry hit as the mod will reduce the power itself towards the end of a big draw. Ended up with a bonus of bigger clouds too. Don't rush it, give it a try when you are feeling ready to experiment.
