are the heads supposed to use NR wire to keep heat away from the seal? I thought this was the case now.

Anyway, my 2.4 ohm head reads 3.1,

and has no NR wire.

The taste of burning seal is unmistakeably unique, and disgusting. I took it apart, and low and behold, it was getting cooked.

Nothing I can't rebuild into working properly, but I thought this had been sorted out. Kind of bummed.

Are they they real McCoy? I have three of them from GV bought just recently and I have none of the burnt rubber taste that plagued the original Vivi Nova's..

The Mini's and the Vivi Nova Version 2.5 are great...IMO....

I do not however, concern myself to much with reading Ohm's, because I can dial in any one of my VV devices to get the perfect vape...So I can't help in that regard...

I've had one head that had what looked like NR wire expertly welded onto the ends of the resistance wire, and I think it's the one I got with the Mini Vivi Nova from here. It may have been from a replaceable head stardust style that I got from a local shop, though. I don't know if that was a Vision product.

There was no discernible solder, but the legs were a bit thicker than the coil wire, and they were just stuck together somehow. It also had the glass fiber sleeve around the entire coil and legs, with slits in the top that terminate into holes that the wick comes through. I'm not sure how they manage to get that together, but I didn't want it in there anyway.

Anyway, I'm not much help here, but just thought I'd throw out that there are heads out there that do take care of that problem. I'm just not sure what it was that it came with, and from whom. The difficulty in knowing who manufactured a product in this industry is infuriating to me.

FWIW the coils of the Raven's also have NR wire which is sleekly attached. Looks more like a weld than solder. Wish I could do that. I recoiled one with regular kanthal so I'll keep an eye on that seal for signs of excess heat.

thank you for the responses :)

I believe that style of wire/coil is welded, only seen it with the GG stuff though.

I have no problem making this thing work, but fact is it does not work AT ALL as packaged. I was under the impression that the burning legs issues had been resolved.

I buy certain things with the intention of modding them. I bought the mini Vivi thinking it would work out of the box. My only intention was to rewick and rebuild with cotton in due time.

Chris? Dan?

zero intention of this coming off the wrong way, I'm not trying to flame anyone

but friends if you have no answer to the question in the OP please refrain from "well mine works" kind of commentary

too often people post about an issue and the thread becomes flooded with "mine works great" kind of comments. not the point.

I know your hearts are in the right place but its completely irrelevant as this is not supposed to be a vivi nova review thread, and I'm not asking about how to fix dry hits, etc. You can post your positive reviews in the appropriate places.

I just want an answer to the question about the heads. Are they supposed to be set up with NR wire to specifically prevent SEAL BURNING (not dry hits, not bad taste)...or not.

I ripped my dead one apart. Yes.

ETA: Upon further examination, the head was one of the new Stardust Heads so just ignore this post.

seems like there is some inconsistency here on the part of Vision

on a side note, I have an "Iturbo II" which is an 808 threaded Vision 2.0 basically...it also has the same kind of seal around the base as the vivi, same heads, same paper/ceramic shield thing around the coil, etc,

yet it hasn't given me issues. I haven't opened it up to look yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if it has NR wire

real nova head 1.8 measured 2.4 i accidentally over tightened it and broke off one side of the cup. After compete deconstruction there is no nr wire attached to this one. Just the regular long legs off the coil as we are used to...
hth :D

woah! broke what exactly?
