Hello everyone!
Happy to be here!
A little history. (Didn't see that coming, did ya!) lol!
I smoked for 38 years and really enjoyed it. I had absolutely no desire what so ever to quit, even though I knew and could feel the bad effects it was having on my health.
My older brother smoked all his life, he had emphysema and died Feb. 14 from pneumonia. On Feb. 19th (5 days later) I was diagnosed with emphysema and had pneumonia.
The doctor told me "You have a choice, quit or die". I told him "No problem, I've still got a lot of things I need to do, so I'll quit"
From that moment, I've never had (not even once) the desire to light up a cigarette. Don't get me wrong, I went through the physical withdraws every heavy smoker does. But the mental part was pretty much non existent. Death is an amazing motivator!

On March 1st. I tried an e-cig... and here I am! LOL!

Now the embarrassing part of quitting smoking. (I know, took me long enough to get to that part!)
Once my sense of smell came back, I realized just how bad I smelled all those years. And how much my family loved me to put up with it! Had to be love, sure wasn't the money!
Now everytime I smell a smoker, I feel a bit embarrassed knowing I used to smell like that.

Anyway...
So far the only downside to vaping I've found so far is, some of the flavors make me really hungry!

Welcome to ECF Wizzle.

Feel for your loss but can sort of sense an upbeat and positive outlook emanating throughout your post?.

I can empathise with you. It's unfortunate that we need to loose a loved one before we begin to appreciate life and those still with us.

Once my sense of smell came back, I realized just how bad I smelled all those years.

You might need to address you personal hygiene regime? Maybe shower more:p

Happy your happy to be here, and here, if you follow:thumb:

I was a serial quitter forever, so yeah, I'm on board with the smell thing. When I'm off of analogs for a while (like now) I can smell a smoker as soon as they enter a room, or if the wind is right, even when they're driving past. It was something I was always self-conscious about when I smoked, especially at the gym. On the up side, you won't smell like that anymore. :)

I'm also with ya on the flavours making you hungry. Some of the juices out there smell and taste good enough to eat and/or drink. I've managed to stick to just vaping them so far, though.

Only shower on Saturdays and special occasions, am not going to change. Period!
Well, maybe I'll give Wednesdays a try. ;)

Life and death are all part of living. We have a choice as to how we experience them. I choose the positive. :)

LOL!!!
Yeah, I though the same way about the breath mint trick! In the last 2 weeks, my wife and I have washed walls, carpet and every piece of clothing we own.
Even the dog got a bath.
At least now when we come home it actually smells (and looks) a lot better. The trucks are getting cleaned this weekend.

Does anyone know why Blu put the charge light facing the wall when it's plugged into the wall charger? That just bugs me. LOL!

Oh, and Thank You all for the warm welcome!

Speaking of odors, the gentleman I mentioned who passed away (a dear friend) at once point claimed he'd quit, but it was pretty clear he hadn't. One day he came into the office and another co-worker PM'd me, "Didn't Joe give up smoking?" "That's what he says," I replied. She replied with, "Well, nobody told his coat."

I've had the same thing - my sense of smell is better, and now I can smell some stuff I really wish I couldn't.

Whenever I'm out in public, I know when a smoker's walking behind me, especially in a store or something.

My husband's smoking doesn't bother me. He smokes outside, is fastidious about his daily shower and grooming, and I make sure the laundry (including coats) gets done religiously. Other people, though, I don't know what it is, maybe they're getting more than one use out of their clothes between washings? It's that stale days-old smoke smell, and it smells worse and worse every time I smell it.

I was always good about washing my hands and stuff after smoking, but now I have a case of retro-chagrin knowing that I used to smell bad. Now my daughter comments on how much she loves the way I smell, even asks me to exhale in her direction so she can get a sniff of it. It's a good feeling!

Yep, me too. Feel like a hypocrite sometimes scolding smokers for how bad they smell, but only until I hand them a business card for my favorite juice vendor. :)

Its appalling that I was in the same boat for so long... Thank god for vaping and ecf! Like many others I never really intended to fully stop smoking, but as time went on and I vaped more than smoked it was innevitable. My last analog tasted so bad I couldnt smoke it and out the window it went, for good!

Now I can smell a smoker as soon as they walk in the building and I have to spray some air freshener...
