One prune? Piker!![]()
Hi guys,
So this is a bit embarassing but I'm going to go ahead and throw it on here anyway.
I've been vaping since a week now and haven't touched an analogue since. Feel great, no cravings for analogues whatsoever, very happy with a seemless transition from smoking to vaping (so far at least).
I have noticed though that my previously frequent 'bowel movements' are now few and far between. I used to be regular like clockwork (once a day) but now I notice that I cannot 'go' but once every three days or so. I also feel like I'm not digesting my food as quickly. It feels like it lingers in my stomach for hours after eating. Never had this problem when smoking. Seems like my gastro-intestinal tract is on a strike or something.
Is this a side effect from quitting analogues? Has anyone else experienced this while switching from smoking to vaping? Did your body adjust to this and become regular again after a certain amount of time?
Sorry for the subject, but to me this is the only very noticeable thing that has changed bodywise so far. I just hope that I can enjoy my daily 'relief' again soon without turning to laxatives or something.
For the record: I think my diet was (and still is) quite healthy: oats, lots of fruits, fiber, vegetables,...
Would like to hear from fellow vapers that hopefully had a similar experience. And really hope that this is a temporary phase and not a permanent adjustment of my digestion.
Thanks everyone!
Tom
Hi Sooter, I know exactly what you mean. I used to wake up and smoke two analogues on an empty stomach. Then take breakfast, smoke a couple in the car on my way to work and when I arrived at work I was in the bathroom within the first ten minutes of arriving.Regular like clockwork for me too. I'm certainly bummed out by this (hopefully temporary) constipation spell but I'm definitely not going back to cancer sticks for the sake of pooing.
I'll just wait for the bowel strike to end and hopefully when things get going again my digestion will return to its former rhytm.
Djeez I never discussed my bowel movements on a public forum before.![]()
Did you see the "House" episode where he prescribed cigarettes to a patient who was constipated (It really is a classic! - The best part was Patient: "But won't these kill me?" House: "I prescribe drugs all the time that can kill people")
You refrigerate prunes? We may have a language/terminology discrepancy. When I say "Prunes", I mean dried plums, not fresh ones. Prunes are to plums what raisins are to grapes.
Again, congratulations!!!!![]()
I switched from cigarettes to vape in the middle of December, after 36 years, much of it 2 PAD. I had a NASTY smoker's cough for many years. It went away the first week and I never hacked up anything. Some people do, some don't. Don't worry about it if you don't.I've been over a week now without an analogue. I expected to be coughing and hacking up all kinds of gross things but not a single cough yet... Although it is kinda gross I wish I was hacking up things all over the place. That way I would be sure that all the tar was being cleared out. For the moment it seems it's just sitting there.![]()
Actually, the House episode, it was the opposite problem. He was having ........ and having kids sit on his lap all day was making it more of an issue (he was a mall Santa Claus). He had inflammatory bowel disease, which cigarettes have been known to help (only 1 or 2 per day).
I am not at all convinced that the PG in vaporizers contributes to dehydration in any significant way, any more so than some common food items. This seems like a bit of information that you only find about propylene glycol inside e-cig communities. Yes, it's hygroscopic, but so is coffee, caramel, and table salt. Sure, drink more water since it isn't going to hurt you, but likely it's more a nicotine thing and a stress thing (from quitting) causing your constipation more than anything else.
