It is just a chemical fact : VG begins to decompose at a loer temperature than its bioling (vaporising) point.

It is NOT an insignificant fact in vaping, but is PROBABLY minor when compared to smoking; though primarily because smoking involves inhalation of radiocative particles, moreso than it involves more acrolein.

Wild guestimate, pretty much unchanged over the last few years, vaping is (somewhat hopefully) ~100x safer than smoking.

I thought acrolein levels were thought to be VERY low in our VG vapor or we would taste it. Plus the decomposition level might vary with the mixture of PG? ....I think you wrote about it in a different thread over a year ago :)

I've been hoping that vaping is more like 1000x safer then smoking, but I'll take what I can get. Would the number be different for 100% PG?

...guess I should do more research...

Re: the radioactivity issue -- I remember this being a big story a couple of decades ago (when for some reason I started smoking), but it went away quickly. It's probably impossible to isolate which cancers are caused by the radiation and which are TSNAs, and both tobacco companies and anti-smoking groups have no incentive to find out... so it becomes moot.

I'd be interested to know if snus is also radioactive, and if so, why it doesn't produce more cancers. Perhaps it is more deleterious to lung tissue then the mucous membranes of the mouth?

I still think that radioactive particles are the key to cancer from smoking, moreso than any other factor such as acrolein.
That said, all things that hamper the body's natural protection and detox systems all add up to trouble. My best guestimate is till that vaping is circa 100x safer than smoking. If you are not averse to PG, make that at least 1/4 of the liquid you use (rather than all VG base).

Healthy life:

Reduce stress (many options here)
Avoid trans fats / margarines / 'long life' foods
Reduce sugars / junk foods
Indulge in spices, herbs, vegetables (esp tomatoe concentrates, garlic, onion, blueberries and other bright colored veg and fruit)
Have a glass of red wine in the evening
Enjoy sunshne and exercise but dont over do either *
This is it - make the best of your life; forget all negative stuff and radiate joy

Number 1 recommendation is reduce stress; it's even more important than stopping smoking! And can be just as hard to do ... But give it time, observe, and one step at a time ...

Read up on vitamin D and its role as like a hormone to understand its importance to health.
Exercise id good for muscle building and fat reduction, suppleness etc, but there is a price - increased oxidation potential - so be sure to boost your diet / vitamins, otherwise exercising will age you faster
