Not real surprises there. This 'cross pollination' between industry and politics has been going on for years and years and is growing rapidly.
Not just the FDA and not just the USA. Democracies all over the world are getting turned into lobbycracies or - to use a common SF term - corporate states.

In a report paving the way for his legislation, Alexander concluded the FDA has grown too large, has fallen behind scientific innovation and threatens American leadership in biomedical innovation.
