I don't own any dedicated rebuildable devices. I'm starting down the road with rebuilding with bcc heads, but I'm thinking about ordering a cheap rebuildable dripper to try that out (my aurora has convinced me, flavor wise, that that is the way to go). From what I've read, most people think the Igo-L or Igo-W are good choices for first RDAs. Am I correct that both of those are sealed, so couldn't be used on top of my aurora, even if they fit?

On another note, maybe I missed the rebuildables for dummies thread, but it looks to me like the genesis-type rebuildables are operationally very similar to top coil tanks like the vivi nova and iclear series. If I'm wrong there, please let me know. If not, do you have to tip your genesis-type RTAs the same way you have to with the vivis, etc? If you don't, why not? Is it the stainless mesh that wicks so much better so that tipping is eliminated? What gives?

Thanks for your help

I would definitely recommend the Igo-W or -T (the T has reduced airspace, leading to better flavor, along with a titanium top cap). However, a mechanical mod would definitely help you there - the Smoktech Magneto is cheap and high quality, so pick that up as well as a couple batteries. As far as buying wick and wire, I buy mine straight from eBay, as well as group buys (I still have most of my 10 meters of Ekowool from a while back). The wire is cheap from Temco Industrial Power, and they have any variety you could want.

How does the mech help? People are crazy for the things, and I must be missing something. I like vaping a variety of liquids through the day. I got a variable device so that I can tailor temp to juice. The way I understand it, a mech is going to gradually decline in voltage through the battery life, but with my coil staying consistent, the vaping temp is going to decline through the day. Also, if I screw up the build and the resistance is off from where you want, don't you have to rebuild to get it right? Isn't it easier to just alter your voltage? I'm not trying to be difficult, but your suggestion reminded me that I still haven't figured the whole mech attraction yet. Enlighten me, that I should go forth and mechanize my life.

Mechs are great because the only restrictions are dependent on your battery. I have a provari, it works great, but it has an amp limitation of 3.5 amps. So if I build a .8 coil and use it on the provari I can't go further than I think 2.8 or 3 volts. Any more voltage than that and the provari will not fire for safety as you would be going over the limitation

On a, mechanical there is no wires or circuitry. if you have good batteries like mnke you can get to very high amperage. They are rated for 30 amps of continuous fire. If youre not a fan of warm or hot vapes
It might not be best for you.

I also missed the rebuildables for dummies thread, & would like to find a good one. My real question is, the general opinion regarding rebuildables + tank atty's. I've not had any luck with tanks, at all. When I stripped them down, I found that the atty itself was useless. I normally use a Provari with a generic atty & have an ego with a Cisco 1.5lr for backup. That system works fine for me, but I long to have the ease of a tank, providing it will not leak.

When you say tanks, are you talking about clearomizers, like the Kanger EVOD, Protank, etc? I haven't had leaking problems with them as much as wicking problems with thick juices. That's why I'm starting there, because I've otherwise had really good luck with them when they're working right. There's a lot of good threads on how to recoil those heads, both with standard coils, micro-coils, etc. My question is about the rebuildable tanks, like the AGA-T and RSST. You read all kinds of great things about them, but I can't figure why they would wick so much better than your vivis, where you have to tilt and swirl to get proper wicking.

Do you know if those have sealed posts? If so, do you know of any "beginners" bottom feed compatible rebuildable dripper?

I'm a newb as well but have an IGO S which is just a smaller version of the IGO L and an RSST genesis tank and a Nemesis clone mechanical mod. Besides that I also use a Zmax with Protank 2. I can say that with the right wrap the genesis has huge flavor on the mech, but at the right wattage the protank performs great on the Zmax, the rda is great on either device and its easy to change out flavors often. I do tip my genesis to help with wicking and you do have to be careful not to sit it on it's side or juice will leak out around the wick. Given the price of the igo's I'd say give them a try and they're not hard to set up either, as far as genesis atomisers go, the rsst would be my suggestion as it's easy to set up and you don't have to worry about the wick touching the bottom of the tank. If you go this route, remember to test your resistances and use chemicaly safe batteries in the mech mod. Hope that speil helps a bit.

I have both clearomizers & tanks, initially wicking was the problem, (pg & I don't play nicely).
I overcame that by thinning vg liquids with Everclear, which I also use for cleaning vapegear. Water works, too.
Then, I realized that even though they had juice feeding in, vapor production was poor. Thus, they were deconstructed, & I found the atty's themselves to be deficient, (confirmed by using just the atty, no tank & direct drip).
My experience with clearomizers was, not worth the effort, I tried several types, too aggravating.
One of my tanks came from Provape, the others were cheap. Honestly, I saw no difference in performance...the atty's are terrible.
Thus, I approach the subject of rebuildables.

i dont know too many cheap drippers that are bottom feed, the squid is close.

as for a genesis the wick sits in the tank and pulls juice up to the wick much like a clearo, what is different is the overall efficiency of the design so yes it does work better. the mesh is very effective at staying wet.

there are a few tank designs that are set up like a clearo with the way the wick is up high and even though they are rebuildable they still have the same exact same problems as a cheap one when using silica
for a genesis I have found on a mechanical while pushing high wattage tilting is required, yet the same wick on a regulated mod works just fine without tipping.

you have to remember with the cheaper stuff they arent designed with the highest efficiency in mind, they work, they sell, the factory keeps dumping them out, good enough.

with a rebuildable you are not limited to one type of wick or coil set up, there are many many ways to set up a rebuildable. look around long enough you willl see 50 different setups in the igo.
for most once you get a rebuildable set up and working correctly you never go back to the clearos and cheap drippers, they work but they just cannot compare to the quality of the vapor from a RBA/RDA.

and in regards as to why they are better for lack of a better term they arent made to just make some vaper, the way they are designed they are "tuned" to increase vapor, flavor, throat hit and nic delivery with mesh making some of the most stunning nic hits and vapor i have ever had. A properly setup geni with mesh is my favorite vape of all/

So 1st time I saw MNKE reference. Sounds like a battery that I need.
Where do you guys buy them?
Some place that will be the real thing. A quick search for "MNKE IMR18650" and soon discovered there are many fakes around as well.
Best vaping sells them for just over $4. This does not seem right. would be awesome if they are real!
Then AvidVaper is closer to $15. (MNKE IMR18650 3.7v Li-MN Rechargable Battery - Avid Vaper)

Just remember, rebuilding isn't difficult and mech mods aren't scary, use good batteries and test your coils, I'll second what Thrasher said in that they give you the ability to fine tune your experience. Got my RSST set up with a 4/3 wrap sitting on top of my Nemesis with a tank full of Jabba's Hookah, I'm in vaping heaven!
