Rare Earth Magnets

I read somewhere about using a rare earth magnet in a mod. Could someone please explain the advantage/purpose?

They can be used as spacers for the battery or as a makeshift post if you have a flat top battery.

They can also slide sideways off of the battery and short out against the side of a metal case!

That would be a disadvantage of using them in a metal case.

I have used them as a spacer in a charger for flat top batteries as well.

They have their problems if the post on the PV is made of ferrous metal or there is ferrous metal near by it can get stuck in the PV or it can also slide off and get inside the PV. Best thing to do is buy button top batteries.

The way I look at it, if the device calls for top posts, then use top post batteries. Simple enough.
