Well, you're covering a lot of ground with that question, LOL.

The Sony 18650VTC4 goes for around $12 AFAIK. Great batteries. I assume you have a good charger already. If not, around $25 will get you one.

Mech mods. Bottom button clones; I have a K100 and it's seen a lot of use over about a year. It's never let me down. Got a Nemesis clone from FT a couple of months ago and it needs more maintenance, but works very well. IMO it looks a lot better than the K100. I have a KTS GG clone with a side button that has never let me down either, but it has not seen much use. These sometimes have issues with the switch heating up but a good cleaning will fix that. These mods can be had for about $20 - $30.

RBAs (as opposed to RDAs). Types to chose from are Genisis, Kayfun, and the Odysseus. There are probably a few more out there but these are the ones that come to mind for me right now. I have no experience with the Odysseus types.

Genesis attys are a little harder to learn to set up, specially using stainless steel wicks, but the flavor and all around performance they provide is very nice. The Smoktech RSST is IMO the easiest one to learn to use and what I would recommend to anyone starting out with these. You can get them starting at about $25.

Kayfun attys are renowned for their great flavor. They come in a few different versions, both clone and 'original' and all perform at least OK. The clones can be had starting at about $20. They don't like really low resistance coils and do not excel in vapor production, but the flavor I get from mine makes up for that in spades :)

You probably know this already, but just in case ... keep in mind that with mech mods you are responsible to make sure you do not draw too much current from the battery and don't run the battery down too far before you recharge it. If you short the battery, it will heat up quickly. Get it too hot and it will vent. That's nasty and can be dangerous, specially if you are not using the right batteries.

The batteries you want for this mod are IMR lithium ion or hybrid lithium ion. Here's a chart of safe batteries, with data on how low you can take your coil resistance with each. Stay in the yellow and you'll be safe. Chances are if your battery is not in this list, you should not be using it.

Hope this helps. Vape on :thumb:
