I was at a local b&m yesterday looking to get into coil building. I was looking at an Igo s. After deciding on it he asked about my mod. Its a segelei zmax v3. He said to get good results a much mod would be best. So long story short I ended up with an Igo s. The flavor is so much better than tanks. My question is do you need a mech mod for the bigger single coil builds or will my zmax work? Thanks in advance.

the line of thinking in the past as been that we need to use a mech mod with a high amp battery (20 or 30+ amps) to achieve sub ohm vaping at around 20 or more watts per coil..
recently some vendors have started to come out with VV mods that can handle insane wattage output. they are expensive and even if you have the cash in hand the waiting lists are long. but in the future you will see more and more VV mods that will handle subohm coils.

Your zmax will work ok if you build coils that are in the 1.0 - 2.5 ohm range. If you want to go lower a mech would be in order. But not a necessity.

You've already had you question answered so I will just say welcome to ecf. Isn't it wonderful to have a place to ask questions? The great people here have helped me so much. Good luck to you and happy dripping. :)

Is it ya'll or y'all? *ducks and runs* :D I loved Stone Mountain, GA when I lived there. Fantastic weather, and lovely people. Youse guys rock! :p

OP, a ZMAX is just fine with that dripper as others have said here. Good luck, and welcome to ECF!

Yea, you don't need a mech. That being said I think you have a better chance of finding your perfect vape if you explore resistances and builds below what your zmax can handle. And since you already have the mech (and the appropriate batteries I assume) why not try it?

It's all preference though, your perfect vape might be a regular ohm coil with high voltage only a regulated device can deliver.

Right now, I have my igo-w4 on a mech with a .5 dual nano dragon setup. That's my fave so far, but I can see how others might not like that build. Just explore, I guess.
