Avoid dual coil RDAs until later. Suggest an RDA with holes in the posts as they are easier to attach the coil. A7s have bottom air flow like a BCC tanks and cartimizers which makes air flow a no brainer. Phoenix bully styles have a well which allows more juice and reduces spilling if you need to disassembe to make a wick/coil adjustment. Read Batitudes blog. Good luck and good fun.

I would think that the AGA-T2 Genesis Style Rebuildable Atomizer would be a good one to start with.
Seems fairly simple and appears to be solidly built.
There are quite a few videos on YouTube to see how to build coils.
Plus you are able to build the coil with the wick out of the unit and then slide it in.
There are a few tricks to it I've noticed on some of the videos, but what doesn't have a trick to when DIY is concerned?

This is going to be the one I go with when I decide to try an RBA unit. FastTech has them for $12.74, not a bad price just have to wait a while for it to arrive.

Just from my own experience I'd recommend you go with an RBA, preferably the RSST and avoid the drippers for now. I started out with RBA's, and got good at rebuilding them, then got an IGO-W, which I found to be a real hassle to rebuild.

This is just my opinion, based on my own experience, and obviously the dripping fans will differ with me, but that's been my experience. I really don't care for my dripper, or having to drip more liquid into it all the time, or having to get the kanthal through those tiny little holes in the posts, or how the coils get gunked up with carbon so fast.

Conversely, if I need to re-coil one of my RBA's I just pull out the wick, wind some 28 kanthal around it, stick it back in, lock down the ends and fire it up. Hot spots are easy to work out with a dental pick, and it's a lot less hassle than messing around with my dripper. It will take it's place next to the Protank that's been gathering dust for months now.

i do exactly what you plan on doing. i take a small screwdriver, wrap a micro coil, put the screwdriver through the hole where the wick goes, screw down coil and remove screw driver. then insert wick. whether it be mesh or cotton. thats how i do it. works like a charm

so it works? awesome!!!!!! I'ma be puttin in some work tonight, thanks guys

so what is a micro coil exactly????? just a small coil where the coils are all touching?

Hey guys I am about to get my first mod to read ohms and I already have my supplies just not the mod and I was wondering also what would be a good beginner rba or rda btw i am on a slight budget $30:vapor:

I have both AGA-T2 and IGO-L (single coil). Both work very well for me. I use SS mesh in the AGA and micro coil and cotton in the IGO. I do run them both at low resistance, but I've heard good things about both at higher resistances using VV/VW mods, specially with micro coils.

Between my two setups the easier one to learn and to maintain is the IGO because there are no shorts to deal with. The RSST has a insulated wick hole which is better than the AGA-T for this, but I haven't used one so can't comment on how much better. People do use silica wick and cotton in the AGA and have good experiences with them, but I haven't done it. A couple of videos that may help:

How to make a micro coil.
genisis atomizer - micro coil with cotton
