Between the AGA T Plus and RSST, for a person who doesn't like fiddling, I'd probably recommend the RSST due to its simplicity. Although, the AGA is a little more fidgety, it does force you to learn how to troubleshoot more with hot spots or shorts. In my experience of course.

All true, although I wouldn't recommend any rba to anyone who doesn't enjoy fiddling.

Hello Folks,

This is again from my Flavor Issue thread but I thought it would be fitting for me to follow up here as well.

--------------------

So just had some interesting revalations the past 12 hours.

I was originally using a Smoktech Natural w/ the DID clone. Got it perfectly dialed in on some .8 Kanthal Ribbion 3/4 wrap. Registered at .7 ohms. Flavor and vapor was astounding. Had some of the greatest vaping time last night. I come into work this morning hoping to share my find w/ my coworker/buddy/fellow vape head. I guess he decided to slack from home today. Well he left his Titan here w/ me at my desk. I decided to try my luck w/ it and put the gennie on it. It was freakn horrible!!! It felt like 2x the power of the natural. I guess all the brass contacts makes a world of difference? If I were to rebuild the gennie for the Titan I would probably go w/ a .3 ribbon 4/5 wrap and aim for 1.8 ohms. So I put the gennie back on the Natural and it was vaping normally now but the juice still tasted burnt. Dumped the juice and the coil was glowing evenly. Filled it back up and still tasted burnt.

What did I learn from all of this?

1) All mods are not made equal (at least as far as power output). When building a coil/wick, build it for the mod that you are going to use or at least use equivelant hardware.

2) Burnt juice takes a while to get off of your wick. Don't dry burn your coil with a wet wick installed or it'll foul up your flavor.

3) This lesson was not learned from my Titan experiment but was within the past 12 hours. I was over torching my mesh. I was using a heavy duty torch used for brazing copper pipe. Methinks that was adding to the unpleasant taste I was getting previously. I now just heat my mesh where it is barely glowing on both sides and have not had any flavor issues since. Wicking on the other hand is a different story but I can deal w/ the gennie tipping in exchange of a good vape.

Now with all that said I think I will be retiring this DID clone. It's served it's purpose by prematurely aging me 15 years. It's got a faulty positive post so I will patiently sit and wait for my AGA T2 and RSST co-op items to ship. In the meantime I will play w/ my IGO-L and ERAs.

Thanks for following along folks. I hope my drama will encourage someone who is having a hard time to keep trying w/ their gennies. I still like my carto tanks for ease and convenience but damn when I had DID dialed in it was a damn good vape.

Untrue. I dry burn (wet burn?) my coils all the time (once a day) without issue.

-Tilt tank so wick is out of the juice (or just wait 'til you're empty)
-Burn off excess juice
-Glow the coils for about a minute, pulsing every 15 secs or so
-Rinse the wick really good under hot tap water (yes, while still installed)
-Burn off water and refill

I may get one or two slightly burnt hits after this, but after that it's pure flavor every time.

Wow. I did as you instructed and it worked like a charm. Saved me a bunch of heartache and headache. I guess I've learned to assume nothing is simple in the genesis world. Thanks for the tip!

Well it's been almost 3 months since I originally posted this and I do have to say that genesis atomizers no longer suck (for me at least). I've had some good times now w/ my RSST and since then I've also procured an AGA T2+. I'm happily vaping away as I type on the AGA with a .6 ohm coil using ribbon kanthal, ss rope wick wrapped w/ 400 ss mesh.

My go to device is still an RDA such as an ERA or IGO-L/W but the gennies have finally grown on me. I'm still really looking forward to meeting up w/ a real genny expert to see how my build compares but I do believe I finally have a decent vape coming out of my devices.

Thanks again all for the help and pointers.
