Is it possible to ruin an rda?
Before I get started, heres my rig.

IPV Mini II
Plume Veil
9 wrap 26g Kanthal dual coil (.33ohm)

I had the perfect build on there. It was the most flavorful thing Ive built on many decks. It was so good, Ive had it in there since mid December (just ripped it out yesterday. Everything was great. Until yesterday. I was torching the gunk of the coils, and I let it get hot. I mean REAL hot. Cleaned the coils, rewicked, and everything tasted like absolute ..... Thought maybe it was the wick (I had just used hand sanitizer X.X). Rewicked, same result.

So I decided, maybe it was just time to rebuild and start over.
Rebuilt at .33 ohm, and while it improved, it was still a bad metallic taste.

I stripped it, scrubbed every part of the deck. Rebuilt. Still bad.
Is it possible to burnout an RDA? Ive inspected everything. The delrin insulater at the base of the positive post is still perfect. The black insulater in the dome is a bit worn, but no worse than it has been for months.

The only sign of wear on the RDA is the center post. The shine is worn off of it. Could that be the problem?

Im dying here. My plume has been my go to RDA for months and I cant even really vape on it. I even went back to dipping yesterday to get my fix.

Try cleaning the entire RDA (base, top cap, anything that touches the vapor) and drip tip with warm water, dish washing soap like Dawn, and a toothbrush. Let it soak for a several minutes in warm water and rinse and dry thoroughly.

Be sure there are no hot spots or hot legs on your coils. They should glow evenly when dry fired. Both coils should heat up at the same time. One coil should not be running hotter than the other.

Be careful not to use too thin or too fat a wick, cotton should slide slide through coil with just a little bit of resistance.

Only thing I can think of is not cleaning your hands before making your wick. If you've been scrubbing/cleaning, it's easy to get crap on your hands and transfer that to the wick when you roll it. Aside from that, are you removing and cleaning the o-rings and the channels they sit in? It could be something hiding in there.

The only thing I can think of that will give you a metallic taste is a hot leg between the coil and the post. I use to get them all the time in my genesis atties before I got good at building them. Even a small amount of a hot leg will give that taste. Look REAL close at your coil leads when you fire it to make sure.

I know you said that you already have, but that's the only thing I can think of.

You didn't melt one of the insulators, did you? You could always try a sonic cleaner. That's what I use to clean mine once a week or so. Come out like new every time. Bought mine for like $40. Best piece of vape gear I've purchased in a long time
The Harbor Freight page shows two here, http://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result?q=sonic+cleaner I've been thinking about picking one up. Great for maintaining vape gear. Some people even use them to speed steep their ejuice.

You know, I read that the other day about speed steeping. I don't know why I never thought of it! Makes sense. I will be trying it with my next juice order.

Definitely purchase one for washing vape gear....you won't regret it. And I've found other things around the house to clean with it as well lol ;)
