RDA RDA burst in flames?

Lol, Yes I know i'm an idiot...

This is my first time building RDAs.

I just picked up a sigelei 150w Oni with a doge V2.

I built a .4ohm dual coil and it was all working fine and I was so excited... Taking some awesome hits at only 30W...

Well I was experimenting with how much this thing can put out so instantly I threw the thing up to 125W, Took the top cap off and held it away from my face to see how much vapor it would produce. After about 2 seconds of igniting it burst in flames so I quickly blew it out.

Well now I'm afraid to vape it again, What the hell was that?

Once again, .4 ohm dual coil, 125W 7.2V
Using Sony 2100 30a
Worked fine at 30-35W

Cotton wick (I'm assuming) was too dry and the coils ignited it. I've done that before, but intentionally.

Either the wicking got too dry or the wicking couldn't keep up with the wattage you were throwing at it. Either way it was the wicking getting too dry and ignited.

What sort of of wicking are you using?

Dry wick (Juice not wicking quickly enough) + No airflow = bonfire

Okay, And i'm using orange cotton balls, I fit as much as I could in the well.
Wound it up first, slid it through each coil then filled the bottom of the well.

As for the airflow, I had the top cap off..

the coils were just sitting in open air...they didn't have air flowing over them like when being used for vaping.

I'd recommend trying it again with about a 40/60 or 30/70 blend juice and blow on the coils after you hit the fire button....it should take a bit longer before it bursts into flames.

+1. If you just fire the coil without blowing air over it you will set it on fire.

E-juice will catch on fire if heated to a high enough temperature. Which is what you did.

Having a 150 watt mod doesn't mean it should be vaped at that power setting, nor that it is recommended.

try using vg juice and add some more wraps to your load, also make sure the wicking is saturated,

Honestly can happen with just juice... I was dry burning coils to clean them after I pulled the wicks and had a nice little campfire for a quick minute. Made me nervous as heck the first time it happened. Just be aware it can happen, and be safe. There is a reason everyone says pulse when cleaning your coils.
