Oh nice, I didn't know.

On the subject of atty options.. I've been meaning to mention that after working with this fatty wire and ribbon for the last day I am really feeling an urge to find myself a couple nicer atty's. All I've gotten so far has been really great budget stuff from china. I think I'm ready for some higher quality craftsmanship.

I don;t know from experience yet but I think I'd rather clean a dirty atty than have to remove the wick and blowtorch it then put it back in, and to be honest I'm not sure the atty is gonna get as dirty as a wick does, it seems to vaporize everything away pretty clean so far, and when the juice is gone it's like an immediate drop off of vapor production.. there is no lag in realization that the fun is over, you can tell mid drag. I'll definitely get some pics of the inside before I clean it, when I clean it, if I clean it ;)

What about air flow? Flat spiral on the bottom? Anyway, maybe tomorrow I'll experiment a bit. (although I just spent the whole day perfecting the wikicoil I have in there now!) That way, you'll know if this type of atty is worth the investment. I'm sure I'll try it soon, if not tomorrow. Now, its midnight, and I'm outa here.

Great thinkin', Stats!!!!

Yes, the first little coil was made with 26g, and it's still working fine in the AGI, I've vaped it twice again today so far, two different flavors... it's legit ;)

I DO have some 32g and I AM of mind to do some more experimenting! lol

You were reading my mind on the idea of coiling the ribbon on edge, definitely gonna give that a try. Also planning to try a tiny coil of 32g, wrapped on a 1/16" bit.

I have to go do some stuff, won't be able to try anything new until later this evening, but I'll be back later with pics of either success or failure...

Had high hopes at this point...

...but the vapor was anemic...

This setup does work. I thought the flavor was WOW at the very first, but soon realized there was an unpleasent aftertaste on the finish. I have my suspicions about that insulator around the center post, and the coil heating so close to it. I could get the vapor/TH to a respectable level, but I was dancing around alot with it, constantly having to adjust the hole position. The line between flooding and dry hit is extremely thin. Plus, I only got like 1 hit per drop before it needed more.

Don't think this one's a keeper... at least not my version. Hope you guys have more success. It'd be cool to get wickless going good.

Edit: btw, 28g coil made with the tapered meat skewr, 1.3ohm.

Try raising the coil up so it's even with the air hole. Maybe some ss mesh coiled underneath it.

Nice one Vego!

Tried a folded length of ribbon, which really likes to short out on itself. I managed to get this coil heating even and from the middle. It's about 2ohm so it went on the VAMO at about 13w. It vaped ok when I dropped one drop right on the coil, did not do well with 6 drops in the dripper.. The 26g coil in the AGI has handled up to 10 drops with really good results. When I put 6 drops in the IGO with the ribbon coil it did not go well at all, that much juice kept the coil from vaporizing well even at 15w and when it was back down to about two drops it vaped one good hit then shorted on itself and dropped to one ohm.

the main point of this experiment is to try to get a stove top coil working without wick.

A stove burner coil would be cool but it was just my first idea of how to do it. I'd personally be happy with any solution that achieves the primary goal of using no wick material.

Next up: a 32g attempt ;)

Anemic. Well 1.3Ω w/ 28g is a LOT of wire.

ADDIT: typing @ same time again. This was to two up post.

Perhaps. But with a fresh batt, 12watts is my happy spot. And while the reaction time was not instant, it wasn't bad either. Anyway, vapor production was the least of my concerns. I could have lived with the vp had it performed better.

Hey, btw pdib, are you suggesting less wire because there's no wick involved, and why?

I hear you. The stove top coil has had a special place in my heart since I tried to perfect it awhile back. Never did have the success I was hoping for :(
