RDA v RBA. What gets the best flavor/vapor/hit?

What gets the best flavor/vapor/throat kick?

  • RDA (Dripper - aka Pheonix, A7, IGO-L, Nimbus, etc)

  • RBA (Gen-Style - aka AGA-T, DID, ZEN, AC9)

I've been into rebuildables for the past month starting with drippers (A7, IGO-L) and I just recently picked up my first Genesis style tank (bliSS). I'm very comfortable with drippers and my past few builds have gotten me TREMENDOUS vapor and flavor, but I wanted a gen-style tank so when the right deal came along I picked up my bliSS. Just out of curiosity, what gives YOU the best flavor? Vapor production? Throat kick?

From my personal experience nothing rivals the taste and vapor production of a dripper, but perhaps thats just because thats the only thing I've had much experience with. Perhaps after I get more proficient at rebuilding a gen-style I will get the same if not more. I was just curious about your experiences. rda or RBA?

You can't lump genny's in one category, and drippers in another, and come out with "which is better at everything."

There are so many different options, variants, different style tanks, different wick materials, different ohm coils...

The basis of this poll is pretty flawed, I doubt you'll get the answers you want.

And for what it's worth, I hate SMOK for making "RDA" a popular thing. I dislike that acronym. A lot.

I agree with others, who have said that with proper building technique, you could probably get the same results with either. I say "probably", because I've never owned a rebuildable dripper, and likely never will. I dislike dripping in general. The only dripping I ever do is when I'm experimenting with DIY flavors.

Would u mind sharing little more info on how?... take top off, drip different flavor, vape til it's changed back?

Thats what I do. Usually after making a few DIY flavors through out the week while steeping I will drip a little of this a little of that together on the tip of my mesh. Sometimes BadaBing!

A dirpper setup like a IGO-L with SS Mesh and kanthal coil, do you consider if it is a genesis style atomizer except without a tank? I really dont see much difference between them. Hope someone will enlight me. After setting up my IGO-L, I am totally falling love with dripping. Genesis atomizer with tank wastes quite a lot e-liquid, that's my 2 cents. Cheers!

No... Genesis is a design started a couple years ago by Raidy... there's a thread here; very interesting; see the evolution and the guy behind it. He is like a genius; lots of designs.
Its the design: RDA drippers a like conventional atomizers with a coil sitting horizontal, just bigger (and better). You make your own coils.
RBA Genesis has a vertical coil/ss mesh (or ceramic or steel wire) going into a bottom tank.
RBA like GG Ody, Pene, Ithaka, and clones are horizontal coils/wick too but have a tank that surrounds the coil area and seeps in from the sides.

I don't see how you waste juice in a Gen, it all gets used.
In fact if you dual coil RDA, super low resistance it uses way more juice.

Thx alot, Ukeman. Finally got it. Now sticking to sub ohms with IGO-L. Love the stealth style with Smoktech Natural (18350 AW battery). image.jpg

Sorry, didn't notice this (for 2 months ). And an interesting couple months it has been. At the time, I was naively dancing around the realization that a Genisis wick can simmer the juice in the tank. Juice dripped fresh (same flavor) on a genny wick tastes much better than 1/2-cooked tank juice. Since then, I've realized that the best vape, hands down, is from a Goosebox. Vertical or horizontal wick, air hole configuration, wicking material are vaper's choice. Freshly squozen juice on my REO puts an end to this line of inquiry. ("for me", I should say)

I voted what you call "RDA" but all my drippers are modded for bottom feeding.

I agree. For me, nothing beats fresh juice squeezed into the RBA. I admit my genesis does have great flavor on a fresh build with SS mesh but it doesn't last that long compared to my REOs. I also find my juice changing from the SS wick. My current wick set up in my genny is a thin SS 300 mesh tube inside Ekowool, much better than any full SS wick I have built so far, but I still prefer bottom feeding by far.

I don't have any feelings about the term but when I hear "RDA" I do think specifically of the SMOK Octopus & the Squid style RBAs. And that's what I use SS ERA & Squid clones. RBA just means ReBuildable Atomizers to me whether it be a dripper or genny, etc. As far as I know, RDA means the same thing, someone in China just named it differently, RebuilDable Atomizer.

Maybe it's just me & the one type of genny that I have but I have the same experience as HOYO. There is a lot of juice that collects inside the atty chamber that will never get vaporized that is on the deck & all over the inside of the top cap. On my "RDAs" there might be juice on the inside walls of the top cap too but the caps are much smaller & everything on the deck or juice well will get suck up by the wick. When a dry hit is coming on there will be just little residue left over on the deck. If my genny goes dry, there's still juice somewhere on the deck. Just something about the huge air chambers too.

A SLR or dual coil RDA can use more juice but at least it all actually gets used. Maybe I'm just not a genny type of person. With my REOs & bottom feeding RBAs, they just more efficient IMO, I don't have to worry about keeping them upright in my pocket cause they won't leak, & they're much more compact. The REOs fit in my jean's coin pocket & I can hide my Mini in my hand with only the RBA & drip tip stick out. I guess I'm just not a fan of long tubular mods.
