Re-naming of e-cigs????

I just received an email from Totally Wicked that 'they' are renaming the e-cig. New name = E-NI (Electronic Nicotine Inhalator).

Anyone know anything about this? Is this just TW doing the re-naming, or is the whole industry changing? When I try clicking on the link, I get a message that IE cannot display the web page.

Could this be a result of the recent cut offs from Pay Pal? Or some other ploy to skirt some sort of legal issue?

I wish they'd not call them "cigarettes" because I want to get away from that name forever. Any name with vape in it would be good, because that's what it is. Maybe the Forum could lead the pack.... and change its name to e-vaping-forum.com? Yea, that sounds good!

Many people have been calling them personal vaporizers (PV's) for awhile now.

Yeah it's really a choice of what you want to call it. I mean technically they're just vaporizers, like any other vaporizers. The only reason they're called e-cigs is because some of them look like cigarettes and people are using them for nicotine.

I use a personal vaporizer, but I doubt that would be so if I hadn't searched Google for "electronic cigarette" and then further searched on variants of that, like adding 'review' to my search criteria. In fact, after a few Google searches pointing to this forum, I did most of my other research right here.

Sometimes I went back to Google to search something like "DSE 901" because I wanted to see what OTHER info I could find beyond this forum, but almost always found other things right here.

So PLEASE DON'T ELIMINATE THE TERM E-CIG from the forum name until such time as a stranger in the supermarket parking lot approaches me and asks "Oh, is that a Personal Vaporizer?" instead of "What is THAT?" or "Is that one of those electronic cigarettes I've heard about?".

I don't think the general public is going to latch onto "Personal Vaporizers" so they'll be "electronic cigarettes" for a while. And they'll add "e" to anything on the Internet, so they'll probably be "e-cigs" for some time. Well, that's better than "e-butts"

You are exactly right. You can call a dog a cat, but it's still a cat. Renaming something is contrary to the purpose. It reminds me of Newspeak in the novel, 1984. Many, if not most, of the members here got here looking for an alternative to cigarettes. Some got here while looking for a place to buy Marlboros cheaply online. Others got here because they saw a kiosk for electronic cigarettes at the mall. How many people would have actually stopped at a kiosk for vaporizers or have done a search for personal vaporizers? Renaming e cigs prevents people from finding them. I thought we wanted more people turning to e cigs.

But she says she'll forgive you if you send her either cheese or peanut butter. Those are her favorites.

I think we're stuck with e-cigs for a while too. I try to remember to call it a PV or nicotine inhaler, but they don't just roll off the tongue, and whoever's asking inevitably says 'huh?'.

Jeannie, you've got a good point there. Wouldn't want someone to miss the great health and fun benefit if they can't find them on the Net. I'd stupidly forgotten the PV acronym...my Personal Vaporizer. YEA! And I'm a Vaper, right?

Personally I like PV much better than e-cigarette. Quicker and easier to say. Rhymes too.

I think the words cigarette and smoke/smoking carry such negative connotations it hurts the cause of PVs becoming accepted in the mainstream. And causes confusion among the uninitiated.

PVs are not cigarettes.
Vaping is not smoking.
Why call it those things?

I call my doggie a 'piggy' all the time, because she is a piggy. But not literally. Not because she looks like a piggy (well, she has a big belly) but because she consumes as much as a pink porker. And because she rolls in mud a lot.
She does not like it because she says that it is just playing on words. She says that she is really a doggie.

Personal Vaporizer or "PV" is the one iam using and people seems to get more interested ! on,, it happens at Sam's Club, the other night ! and since it was all about " Sir, you can't smoke in the store ,Sir !, i used the PV intro and they stopped on the spot ! and started asking questions !, and a great conversation was born ! , after that, i did vaped all over the place (only when needed) , and got smiles back !!


"E-Cig" !! well , i think that they think! its another cigarrette type ! not interested !for the people that don't know,. in the other hand ,analog smokers will get it faster ! and understand faster.,so i think.
