So I'm still fairly new to RBA and was wondering if its ok to re-oxidize a SS wick that has already had about 3 tanks of juice through it?

I was getting a 1.8 ohm reading in the beginning with my AGA-T2 and now my ohm readings are jumping from 2.5 to 3.8. Vaper production is still pretty good but after about 3-4 long pulls. I checked my wick, wiggled it up and down in the tank, checked for hot spots but still the weird jump in ohm reading. Has my wick lost the carbon residue under neath of it and can I re-oxideze or is it time for a new one?

You can do ether I have never used a wick up yet to be honest with you. I just rinse it out and give it a quick torch to reuse. What happens is if you dont get a good tight wrap you get gunk build up from your juice between the coil and your wick. This build up can cause increase in resistance and vapor production.
Its your call weather you make a new one or reoxideze your old one.

Btw... Is it okay to wash my tank and SS wick the same way I would with a silica wick, running it under water then dry burning it?

Ive never done it but Im sure you could I get 30 pluse days from a set up. Then I pull the wick rinse the tank and wick quick torch on the wick reinstall and re wrap and good for another month or so.

Ok this is good news and just what I wanted to hear :toast:

Thanks for the quick reply too.

After popping the top off my AGA-T2 I do see what you mentioned about the black gunky stuff around the coil.

Thanks again ;)

dont be afraid to rewrap I know at first you think cool I got it Im not going to mess with it! But each coil you make you get better till becomes a no brainier. Keep at it in no time youll be making coils that look like the pictures! IMG_1269[1].jpgIMG_1085[1].jpg

Sudden High coil readings are NOT due to SS wick shorting. Just the opposite. The coil has a bad/loose connection.

Secure or replace coil.

As to SS wick. You can rinse clean, pat dry and torch at any time.

damn, just quoted crxess in another thread, but i'll do it again :)

my first genesis ever was an aga-t2, and i had a LOT of problems with the resistance going up, going down, or otherwise being wacky. crxess hit the nail right on the head - every single time it was due to a loose connection on the positive post.

Sounds like theres something to this its been brought up twice. Ive never used a AGA anything. Is the what ever they use to secure the wire kind of hard to get to seat well?
When I first started using genys sometimes it seemed easier to not wrap the wire in the direction the nut tightened and it would give me troubles.

the ones i saw the centerpost will move when screwed on the mod as well, it doesnt lock down like some of the others causing the wire to lose proper tension. insulator too small or screw threads not long enough. add that to nuts not holding and problem city.

I guess a guy could do a double wrap with his wire to make sure its good and tight. then secure it. Or get something made a little better I have a rsst while it is cheap and you can tell compared to a well built one its seems to be an ok atty
