I recently purchased a new lime flavored e-liquid, I primed a new coil and started vaping on it to realise I didn't like the flavor much, so I took out the coil and put a new one in order to vape my usual mint liquid. The thing is, I didn't vape on the first coil a lot so I didn't want to throw it out, I kept it and put it in a sealed plastic bag, but I've never re-used a coil before so I wanna now if I could use it later If I ever wanna vape the lime liquid again or do they become unusable once they're out of their plastic container (I use Vaporesso GT Cores coils)

is this a coil that you built or bought pre built or is this more of a plug and play coil
(well I guess it'd help if i looked it up ;) more plug and play)
yes you can reuse coils
you can soak your coil in hot water over night (or a few days) then let it air dry over night (or a few days)
I prefer to use a cheap bottle of vodka instead of water...
if it were a prebuilt coil simply replace the cotton (or do the same as above)
side note, you don't have to change the coil when changing flavors, but the first several vapes will be funky (sometimes surprisingly good) until the old juice is off the wick

also another side note, you can use a coil for as long as it doesn't start tasting burnt...once the wick is burnt it's time to replace...or if the flavor/vapor is diminished, but you can try to clean it first before tossing it.
usually replace/clean a coil every week or two depending on your juice and use sometimes once a month if you're lucky

If using very strong flavors such as cinnamon, menthol, and mint, set aside that coil to be used exclusively with that flavor should you choose to change flavors. They usually will retain that stronger flavor despite whatever attempt you use to clean them.

If you are using plastic tanks or clearomizers, understand that some flavors will cause the plastic to decompose. Use glass tanks instead. It's not harmful to vape those flavors, but they tend to react negatively with plastic (polycarbonate).

The flavor usually lingers in the coil that's why I change them whenever I'm changing flavors.
Will I have to re-prime it when the time comes to re use it?
I haven't used drop in coils for a while, but I switched flavors when I did and the old one would be gone after roughly 10 hits. Try priming it the way I suggested in my other reply.

It's actually really simple, the blister pack that your coil comes in makes for a great priming tray. Give the coil a quick rinse, let it sit in the juice you like for an hour and Bob's your uncle!

You pour juice in the blister pack and let the coil bath in it for an hour? If so what do you do with the juice that’s left over in the blister pack? Just curious.

@fcastle22
- You will discover that coils will retain the flavour of some juices regardless of your efforts. Like @Baditude mentioned, just put them aside for that particular juice or juice that maybe of similar flavour. Outside of that, you can try adding the new flavour once your tank is empty and vaping through the old flavour. Depending on the flavour this could take as little as a couple of hits. Or rinsing the coil under warm water, blowing out the excess water, repriming and adding your new flavour.

I haven't done that for a while obviously since I build now, but when I did let them sit in the blister pack it would only be when I started having trouble with a certain brands coils and it wasn't a lot of juice. As for what I did with the leftover juice, you drink it, silly! :headbang:

I’ve never had a problem with a CCell coil. Prime the wick (not the coil) as normal, fill tank and vape….almost instantly. With CCell, the actual coil is not in contact with the juice/wick like normal. The coil heats a ceramic heating element, which is in turn in contact with the wick. But given the dimensions of the Ceramic, there is little wick/cotton in comparison.

I had a lot of trouble with the Ccell coils, that's actually what drove me to abandon drop in coils and start building. It may have been a bad batch that my local shop had, but I went through pack after pack that were terrible for a month. I loved them for a few months, great flavor, they lasted a long time. I never changed my priming process, bought a new pack and they all tasted burnt. On my last pack, letting them sit in a blister pack for an hour helped, but they didn't last as long as I was used to. Bought an rta, wire, cotton and a building kit out of frustration and haven't looked back. Now after using rta's and rda's I'm glad I switched, I'm in control now.

Maybe a bad batch. It happens (although has yet to happen to me). Outside of the Mesh GT coil, the CCell is by far my favorite from Vaporesso and still use them on my Swag (just took a hit off one!). Not saying this is your problem, but the actual coil (inside the ceramic) needs to stay dry. E-juice on the inside of the ceramic will burn. There is no wick on the inside of the ceramic. The coils also prefer lower wattages – Vaporesso states 35 watts max, I feel that is pushing it.

If the coiI is a rather new drop in coil, I just change the liquid and vape through the flavor mix until it gets completely diluted. Sometimes I score an interesting vape experience that way. I find that messing with bathing, boiling, and torturing weakens the coils and they are never the same. Rebuildables, I just rebuild.

If possible, it's best to use Everclear. It's usually double the proof of Vodka. Alcohol evaporates a lot faster than water does(Everclear has a higher alcohol to water ratio than Vodka. In states do not allow Everclear because of the high alcohol content.

Your coil should be fine. Citrus can be a pretty persistent flavor, hence the suggestions to use a SIMILAR profile, I mean it doesn't have to be lime, but lemon or grapefruit or something in the citrus family.

This would probably be a good situation for an everclear or vodka soak. You can do that right after removal, or before use. There are some advantages to either-- if you soak it right away, it won't sit as saturated with juice as if you wait until right before. If you do it right before use, that will make it easier to prime (not that I've ever found reused coils hard to prime, they really aren't, that much).

The new flavor thing and just adding it works, if you have similar flavor profiles. I have a gin and tonic mix that a) I only use in RDAs that is how pungent it is and b) I have a feeling if I used a drop in coil and got down to 10% of my mix and then I tried to fill it with chocolate, the results... would be unfortunate.

But yes, you can reuse coils no sweat.
