I've been reading that organic cotton is the go to material for wicking coils. I decided to get some from the store, pull the silica wick out of an I clear 30b 2.1 ohm coil and wick it with the cotton, to see what I got.
What I got was not much, if any, improvement in taste, and a throat hit I never got before. I used Dr. Fogs skittles flavor, which is a max VG for the test. Did I do something wrong? It was a new coil, and I had no problem pulling the cotton through the coil, telling me I didn't stuff it too tight.

I would use as much material as was in there and make sure to drip some fluid into the coil to prime it. It's hit or miss rebuilding coils that aren't mean to be rebuilt. Moving the coil inside could have moved it and caused a short, so if you don't have a mod that can read ohms, or a resistance tester, it will be a guessing game.
