As the header says I`ve found a possible alternative to the several threads on here that have been showing how to re-wick with cheesecloth and cotton wool.
I was inspired by these threads to find another easy source of cotton threads! (sorry for the terrible wordplay) and had a thought so went out and bought a ball of natural cotton twine for general office/parcel wrapping use. A lot of options and diameters out there but settled on this one as it`s 3mm diameter :).
It may be a little tightly twisted to be able to use directly as a wick but it strands lovely, easy to pick out the individual 22 strands or my idea is just to remove a number of strands, thus loosening the twist, and dial in my own wick diameter.
I hav`nt boiled it or anything just yet as it`s just natural untreated cotton but if I get any "funky" tastes then that might be an idea.
Shown with a 510 cartomiser for scale.
Oh it cost £3 (less than $6?) for a ball of 20meters! ( 65ft! ) so should last for a few wicks! ;)
