Okay so I'm pretty new to this whole coil building thing and so I never comment at this point. (Don't get me to lying!) But I got a question about wick and leaking. Now I'm burning through juice a bit faster than expected with my first rta here. (Kangertech Protank 4 rba) Is that indicative of leaking? It doesn't appear to be leaking though and I'm contemplating replacing the wick because the meter says the coil is not too bad. Should I just keep refilling it and vape on because I'm freaking out over nothing or what here?

As long as you are getting the quality of vapor you want your wick and coil are fine. I care about throat hit and vapor texture. Those seem to be best for me when I rewick a couple times a week but results my vary. The wick and coil will gunk up slower if flavor percent is kept to a minimum and there are no sweetners added to the liquid. Higher power consumes more liquid per puff. I vape all day at 30 max wattts and 400 degrees and consume 5-7 ml. Some vapers use a lot of power to make more vapor so more liquid is consumed. I've heard of people going through 30 ml per day with high powered setups.

I'm a relatively new arrival to coil & wick land myself, and I have noticed that the RTA I use goes thru juice slightly quicker than the clearo (both with a real close resistance) that I still like to use. I think this is because 'home built' coils burn liquids more efficiently than coil heads. It may be a wicking issue as well, I just haven't been doing this long enough to say for sure..

If your RTA is leaking you will know about it, usually around its airflow holes or seals somewhere. Run your finger around the tank, tip it a little, see if you get any juice on your hands.

The most common leaking with RTA's is when juice floods inside the RTA deck due to poor wicking, then it flows down/out the airflow holes. If you aren't getting any juice on your mod or hands I'd say you're good to keep vaping.

If you're not getting a puddle of juice anywhere and goping through juice faster than expected, it's because you're vaping more juice than usual. The build you place, coil and wick, in that RBA will not be the same as a factory coil. Which is good, as you can usually come up with builds that are better, and cheaper, which is the whole point of it.

As to how often to rewick, it all depends how much you vape and what you vape. Some folks rewick every few days regardless of performance, others, like me, only rewick when the taste becomes off. I've had wicks last well over a week, but I also mix my own juice and rarely use any additional sweeteners, which are great at gunking up coils and wick.

It sounds like you're doing just fine. As eLicky pointed out, if it leaks it's not too hard to spot.
