ready to buy first kit

Hi, I'm interested in trying an eCigarette to see if that will enable me to stop smoking real cigarettes.

Last last year, I tried an eCigarette at the mall... I was surprised that it was actually pretty good, but I didn't buy it. Now, still smoking, I want to give eCigs a try.

The one at the mall had a blue light and no button to hold down... possibly a Blu brand? I was thinking that returning to the mall might be the easiest thing rather than mail order places, but I thought I'd get advice here on other people's opinions.

If I do mail order, I want to order from a reputable place. I noticed Sportsman's Guide sells a Ruyan kit, but they are sold out of the replacement cartridges.

I read the Primer in the Library at the site about buying and see that mods are good for batteries, but I'm not sure what those are or which brands use them. Basically, I'm looking for a simple, reliable, and hopefully inexpensive eCig system that is somewhat close to a real tobacco experience. I want replacement cartridges/parts to be easily available.

I read that most eCig stuff is made in China... should that be a concern?

What kit do you recommend?

This is solely my opinion, but esmokeyshack.com was excellent to me, with my first starter kit, and they have really competitive prices, and extremely fast shipping. I purchased a Joye 510 kit , a bunch of liquid and some empty carts from them for my first e cig purchase. The 510 is great, and i recommend a manual battery over an automatic. I got one of each and the manual performs much better. I dont think you can go wrong with a 510 as a starter e cig.. these are just my .02$ but wanted to share my experience with them.

Unfortunately, most of the answers you will get are opinions. It was recommended to me that I start with a joye 510.. but I got the manual battery (you have to push a button to turn it on) I had heard too many negative things about auto batts, but again, it's preference.

I do know that cignot.com has been recommended to me countless number of times, and I placed an order and they should come highly recommended! They are, in fact, great. But again, a matter of opinion. They are located in the US, Chicago area, I believe. They have starter kits there, and are extremely helpful and reply back almost immediately (have not tried calling?) and their shipping is very fast.

Again, it's all about opinion and personal preferences. Try not to overwhelm yourself with info at first, I see that happen often.

I think it's pretty much the going opinion of the forum that the kiosk's at malls are a rip off. So I wouldn't recommend going to them to purchase them. Best of luck, looking forward to hearing how you're progressing!

Don't buy the one at the mall. Buy from cignot or nhaler.com. both are great to deal with. Both will have your kit to you in no time. I like the 510's, but I would start out with the eGo. This is a 510 with larger batteries so you can go much, much longer without having to charge.

Get some liquid also. The carts won't last you very long without needing to be refilled.

I would have to agree with the eGo.. had I known when I started what I know now, the battery life of the eGo is MUCH better than the 510. And definitely grab some juice, the juices are worlds better than the carts. There is a link at the top of this forum for Forum Suppliers. Good place to visit

Try not to overwhelm yourself with options, information or opinions (including this one ).

Biggest step you have taken is to decide to try to get off tobacco. Great!! Take the plunge. You seem to already starting to do smart research. The mall e-cigs are usually a bad deal.

Just jump in and try! Buy a good starter kit from cignot, or vaporking or altsmoke or any other supplier here on ECF. Just try it. Most starter kits are around $40.00 - less than a carton of butts. Will your first e-cig purchase be the best choice? Probably not, but you are moving away from the whole tobacco thing and that is very good!

Pull the trigger on what you think is best and learn and enjoy, don't give up.

I agonized for days fretting about my first purchase, yes, I spent too much, but with the help of every one here, all the 'parts' of my first purchase's are still in service. I've been tobacco free for over 3 weeks with the help of everyone here, you can be too. Good luck.

I didn't like auto batteries at all.I think my next purchase is going to be something with no solder or wires.I love my screwdriver MKII.It never fails(although it did break where the atty screws on once and the wait to get it back was long).So I guess I can't say never fails.But when you push that button it vapes.I'm checking out the gg at the moment.Expensive,but anything to keep from going back to analogs.I loved my chuck,but the button keeps failing.The protege is awesome,well built but I don't like the new switch.To suit my needs,I want a big battery(last at least all day)and minimal problems.I vape all day on the battery that comes with the screwdriver.The chuck's big battery was the best so far,but the switch,man it's turned into a problem.Just my opinion.

I had a greensmoke,gave it to a pal to get them started.Expensive,but problem free.Don't like the battery.I quit smoking cigs with the greensmoke,so I owe it that.But that thing was welded to my grill ALL DAY.Seems hard to get a satisfying drag off of it.But I was a heavy smoker for a long time.May be perfect for some folks.

The eGo is a good e cig to start with. It is a little more expensive than a 510 but you don't have to worry about extra batteries and a pcc with the eGo. An eGo starter kit will cover you battery wise.

Since you have some experience with vaping you may look into a mod. For $100 you could get one of the best mods on the market and a 3.7v battery that will last DAYS on a single charge. If you go this route all you would need for 6v vaping down the road is different batteries.
