It's been 5 and a half weeks since I've had a cigarette. I haven't been able to taste juices in about 2. I switch them up, that seems to work for a hot second, then stops. Its not my coil, I drink so much water I could pop, I've tried coffee and spicy food. I'm going to give some more juices one more try today, but honestly I'm broke and really just frustrated.

Vapers Tongue is what it is....use it as a good time to vape juices you have ordered and didnt care for. Worst case scenario is that tasting nothing still tastes better than cigarettes.

Your body needs time to heal from the damage, you have blasted your olfactory senses with burning plant matter for X number of years, just let it heal.

Don't give up, Phil!! You're almost over the hump and you're doing so well!!
What equipment are you using? What juice?
Keep in mind that the smoking has done some damage to your taste buds, or you may just be experiencing vaper's/zombie tongue... I promise you, it does get better!!

I'm using a nemesis clone and kanger tech aerotank. I've gotten myself down from 18mg to 8mg. All my other juices are higher mg juices and I don't want to go back up. :sigh:

Going back to higher nic is still world's better than going back to cigarettes! Honestly, you might taste them, but they'll taste like crap!

If you don't want to use them because of higher nic content, just go to Wal-Mart and pick up a bottle of USP grade vegetable glycerin to dilute the juices some. If you indeed have vapors tongue, you probably won't notice the slight decrease in flavor. In fact, when I find myself losing the ability to taste correctly, I'll vape my unflavored for awhile. That seems to help me reset my taste buds. Just don't give up and go back to the death sticks!

If I were you I'd go back up to 18mg, or at least a 12mg... You've only been off cigs a little over 5 weeks... I was just posting in another thread earlier about how I'm absolutely convinced that a lot of the addictive part of cigarettes has to do with other chemicals, not JUST the nicotine... Various reasons and supporting arguments, but that's a discussion for another day... The point is, If I were you I'd go back up... 18mg is still going to be less than you were getting from the cigarettes honestly... Give you body time to kick the addiction to the OTHER things first... THEN if you want to start bringing down the nic levels after a couple or few months, then give it a go...

For the record, research nicotine some time. It's really not as bad as it's made out to be... In fact, there are actually several beneficial properties. :) Let yourself relax and kick the habit first... Then worry about reducing nic levels over time...

Best of luck to you!

rusirius makes a good point... don't feel bad about going back up... I used 36mg for about 4 years and didn't think I'd ever go down... I'm finally down to 12 and 6mg juices! Only took me 5 years to get here.....

You may also look into the WTA (Whole Tobacco Alkaloid) juices... I've read where it has helped a lot of people with their cravings...

It is pretty normal for people to go through this.

My confusion is.... If your broke how can you afford to go back on analogs like the title of your thread suggests?

OP I went through the same thing and my tastebuds still aren't 100%. I had the same thought, hell I'll just go back to smokes. Then my oldest kid asked if I was getting everything but the flavor I was looking for out of vaping. I thought about it and I was, just wasn't getting the Strawberries and creme I wanted so bad.

So here's what stopped me.

I was getting the nic I wanted
I was getting the TH I wanted
I didn't stink
My breathing was better, I no longer snored
And other than taste everything was pretty damn good.

Until you get that tongue working again just ask yourself if the taste is worth all the bad things smokes bring to the table. Good luck, be strong.

Last thing probably you want to hear as it would involve more money (and is a bit gross)... tongue scraper (told you, gross). Morning and night stainless steel one from DR. Tungs. I will also, if able, do a quick brush with just water. Both help me at least when flavor drops off.
Another thing is that taste has almost as much to do with scent as it does with taste buds. When my allergies get bad a quick sinus rinse helps me a bit. Cooking is my first hobby/work. So taste and scent have always been important for me and I noticed a bit of cross over with vaping.
As always your milage may vary.
Actually, what flavors have you been using? Since I have been using a 'fresh squeezed orange' the last couple of days when I do pull from my 'tobacco, nutty, carmel, is that a bit of cocoa' flavor I notice more from the latter. The fresh squeezed composition seems to not gunk up my palate as some other liquids do.
Any one else have juices do this?
Three plus years in and just finding a couple keepers in liquid land.
