Ready to make the jump finally!

Hello all, first let me say I am new to e-cig's and I knew nothing about them until 24hrs ago, I still know very little, but I am ready to make to jump to vapor.
The other day, my wife said that she was ready to give e-cig's a try and I was estatic. She didn't know that I have been wanting to make the jump also.
Thank goodness I found this forum, I was ready to spend a few hundred on the v2's / greensmoke deal after just searching a few dozen review sites since they seem to be in the top 5 on most sites.
After 12 hrs of a lot of multi-tab reading/searching while at the same time listening to reviews on here and youtube, I was "brain-fried". It was like 'information overload'....lol.
Just when I thought I found what I wanted, I would change my mind and then I ended up back at not knowing what I wanted ( it's all good, I like brain-storming like that....lol ).
Finally I was ready to make a choice for me, but I may need some help in choosing for my wife.

I smoke 1.5 to 2 PAD of Marboro/L&M red 100's.
I am thinking of getting myself the KGO or DSE ego style starter kits w/ the 1000+mAh batts by SLB; Boge 2.0ohm LR cartomizers; a VISION eGo Stardust top coil carto and a few 10ml of juice (60/40-24mg) for starters.
This just seems to fit my needs and I think it will work me, of course, fill free to let me know what you think.

Now for the hard part, my wife. She didn't seem to keen on the large batts and I think she wants something more analog like. She's a homemaker and I know she will not want to drip so I was looking for something more analog that takes cartos and still have the 510 style so she might be able to upgrade later.
I was looking at the 'Smok Tech 510 cartomizer kit Mega manual batteries' or the 'GotVapes SMOKtech 350mah 510 Stick Style MINI Kit', but I couldn't find a lot of reviews.
She smokes 1 to 1.5 PAD of Marboro/L&M Menthol full flavor 100's
I could really use some help/info in this department and I appreciate any input on these or any other styles/types.
Thanks :)

Hi Skelley,

Welcome aboard! Thats a great decision your wife and you have taken, I can assure you, you will not regret it :) Most people here, including me feel that making the switch is one of the best decisions we have taken.

You seem to have done quite some research and found some options for yourself. While I have no experience with any of the devices you have shortlisted, I am sure someone will hop in here and provide valuable input about them. The research feels mind boggling at first, trust me, it could make the difference between your decision working out or not. An ecig that does not work for you might make you want to reverse your decision, so an educated choice of your PV always works better.

I think its good that you and your wife would be choosing different models. In that way, you will get to try out each others ecigs and decide what works better.

Cheers and welcome to one of the most helpful forums in the world! :)

Welcome Skelly to ECF and congrats to you and your wife for laying down the analogs. I wasn't sold on the drip idea either and the bulky size of some models so I started with the 510 which takes cartos. It's a great size for a purse but really didn't give me the "hit" I was looking for being a Salem smoker. I tried hubbs Smok Tech 510 Ego Kit and was sold after the first hit. I purchased a 510 Ego Kit that day and have not gone back to the cartos. I only smoked 1/2 pack or less per day so the cartos may or may not have enough "hit" for her. Dripping isn't bad at all. I only have to top mine up once a day. I keep the 510 carto around if I want to use something "on the go" in my purse.

To your wife, I'm sure they look huge. In reality they are about the size of a sharpie marker. If she is still against getting the KGO, order what she wants and let her try your KGO out...she'll change her mind and want yours...LOL. Us wives are like that....we get something in our heads and until proven wrong, we're right. The Joye 510 is a good little ecig...got me off a 4 PAD habit but I had to carry around 6 batts all the time. 2 weeks later, I upgraded to the eGo (KGO wasn't around back them). I was satisfied..or so I thought...until I started to read about mods. Something inside me said to give a box mod a try because for me, something was still "missing". I did and I'm hooked. However, I will still be grateful to my little baby batteries for having broken my bad habit.

If she likes the little batteries and they work for what she needs them to do, make sure you get a few extras to have on hand and plenty of 3ohm Boge cartomizers with different flavors loaded that she likes. DO NOT use low resistance on these batteries in any form. They are not designed to handle anything lower then 2.8ohm.

Any type of ecig that gets you both off of cigs is worth every penny spent.

I agree, this forum and youtube is definitely information overload. I had a migraine the first month after finding this forum but thanks to a couple of vets, I'm here to stay and haven't even thought about going back to smoking. You both need to find the right gear and juice...when you find it, stick with it.

Welcome to ECF!

I have both a 510 slim set up and an SD MkII setup with 510 adapter. I like to use the slim with cartos and my pcc when I go out, and the SD with Vison extremes for work or in the car. I tried quitting with e cigs about a year and a half ago, didn't work. Heard about all the new delivery systems and decided to get back into it about a month ago and haven't had a real cig in over 3 weeks.

good luck!

Thanks darco & CrazyCatz for the warm welcome
Yeah darco, going from knowing nothing to researching this forum and following up on sites and reviews/vids within 12hrs... I literally had vapor coming out of my ears....lol. I still have a lot to learn, but hope/think that I am on the right path now.

CrazyCatz, so you used the Cartomizers first then went back to dripping with a Atomizer?
I'm just wondering/hoping that the empty cartos with 60/40 & 24mg will give that good TH & vapor. If not, I don't mind trying other options out. I really want to stop analogs after 21yrs of use.
Yes, I thought that getting 2 different systems couldn't hurt. If she didn't like it, I would get her something else to try and pass the old one on to the kids. ( kids are ages 18-27 and 3 outta 4 smoke analogs).
I hope to get them to switch next ;)

Thanks again for the welcome :)

I talked with the wife some more and something I need to consider for her is that she doesn't like a 'hot' analog.
She only smokes around 1/2 to 3/4 of a 100 analog and kills it. She says it taste 'hot', whatever that means.
I smoke'm down to the filter.....lol.

Edit: I showed her a few pics and she insist on a round tip.
She's also looking for something with a good TH & vapor.
I may have to look at Pass Thrus also since she only smokes at the computer.

Thanks

I'm a noob, giving up a 40+ year analog habit. I've "quit" regularly, tried the patch, cold turkey, hypnosis, and nothing ever worked for long. The wifey quit 35 years ago when pregnant the first time, but that method never has been available to me... :) A week ago, she heard about e-cigs, and talked me into checking them out. I checked out the local vendors, and couldn't get any good advice, so I bought a cheapy and discovered I liked it. Yesterday I found E Cig City less than an hour away, went and spent some quality time with people who know their stuff, and am on my way. I discovered flavors and how to refill my carts, and don't think I'll ever look back. Good luck with your new adventure!

Thanks Calsax, there are 2 major citys within a 1hr drive and I will start looking around them tomorrow.

I also like some of the bottom feed mods options, so I may look into those also.
I have several devices for my tobacco products, so I figure I will end up with various vapor products also.
I like those REO minis, but I'm not going to bother with opening a paypal account, so I will have to look for alternatives.
Thanks for the info.

I have the Kgo coming this week too (ordered on Friday). Like your wife, I originally wanted something more "analog looking". I quickly decided that wasn't important anymore. LOL She may too, so keep that in mind. However, if she really wants something slim, I really really DO love my KR808D-1 style Nebula. I got it from Vapornine.com and it's a VERY affordable starter kit. I still plan on using mine even once the Kgo comes (but we'll see, lol). There are lots of places that sell the KR808D-1 under various names, but I haven't seen one yet for the price at Vapornine. You might though.

Good luck. I was off analog cigarettes the day I got my Nebula, and haven't looked back!

TamiP you sound just like my wife. Whenever I get something and she tries it, then she wants it to....lol.
It's all good though :) Besides, having a choice of devices to fit all of life's little situations can't hurt.
Now that I have a better understanding of what's out there, the next issue I will have is trying to find products that are made in the USA.
I don't mind paying more for the products if I have to, but I noticed that most of the sites I have visited don't tell where the items are made.
I will make my final decisions and purchases this week, so I do have a little time left.
I have set aside $500 to get us started.

I agree!...buy her some 510 batteries, a charger (usb with wall adapter), and a couple packs of Standard resistence Boge cartomizers (Can be used on your Ego as well). Then either keep a KGO ready to go in the "shopping cart", or buy one and hide it, for when she starts borrowing yours more then you get to use it:p. When looking at a 510 kit, try and compare the starter kit, as opposed to just buying the batteries, charger and cartos. You don't really need the atomizer (unless you want to drip), and cartridges aren't all that great.

Thanks EricHill78, I have looked at several sites and of the (3) I keep going back to, Hoosier's is one of them.
I may have to contact them and see where the devices & apparatuses are manufactured.

No problem at all.. there is a phone number you actually talk to someone it's great or email of course. Here is a video of a reviewer I like to watch. He got the kgo from Hoosier, so you'll know what to expect.

Your wife might prefer the look of the smaller ones, but the battery life is so short. I used to have fifty one, but the batteries and vapor couldn't match my bigger battery ecig!

True, but if she wants to upgrade later I'll hook her up ;)

Now it looks like the next issue is finding everything I want from 1 site :(

Wifes kit from 1 site
My kit from another
clear cartos from another
juice from 3 others.....lol
