Noob ready to make the switch

Hello all, Ive been lurking here for awhile and am ready to make the jump as I am almost out of analogs and dont want to buy another 2 cartons and continue down this path.

I have a few questions...

1) How often do vapers vape? Do you treat it like a smoke, taking 20+ drags and then going for an hour or so without until you would normally light up again or do you just vape all day long?

2) I live in NY and get cigs for $2.30 a pack from the reservations. I smoke about a pack a day, 2 if I'm out and about on the weekend and drinking. Comparatively, how much would juices cost me?

3) I like the cig style ecigs and am going to pick up a Smoov kit at a local vape store. I think a cig style would be most comfortable and help me quit. I've only seen a one review and I guess Smoov's juices aren't that good. Can I use any juice?

4) If most cig to vapers made the switch to quit smoking...why do so many spend hundreds of dollars buying every mod they can find? Isn't that continuing the nicotine addiction and costing just as much? I see alot of folks on here have gone to Varis at a cost of $180 after shelling out $30-100 a few times before that. Not criticizing, just wonder if vaping becomes an addiction in itself.

Thanks

1) When I smoked in the car, I might light up every 30 minutes. With vaping, it's like 5 drags, then pocket it, maybe another few in 10 minutes. But it works out to A LOT LESS nicotine on a daily basis (for me)

4) I thing many smokers have addictive personality traits and buying all the neat stuff is part of that. I decided to go with a cheap system, but bought more of the things than I had intended. The financial aspect was not one of my main reasons for switching.

Good luck with your adventure. After a very short period of time, I found I breathe a lot better, have a feeling of accomplishment, and food tastes really good.

1) Everyone is different, I vape when I want to I place no frequency restrictions on my self which vary hour by hour & day by day.

2) Depends on how much you vape and what your juice costs are per ml.
I use as little as 3ml per day and as much as 10ml. average daily consumption now = 3 ~ 6 ml.

3) Whatever works for you. My experience with several brands of cigalikes were very disappointing frustrating and flat out counterproductive to my goal of smoking seccasion.

4) To some folks vaping is a hobby, some like the features and vape quality APV's provide, some like do dad's and new stuff, some just wanna quit ingesting burning toxins & carcinogens.
As far as nicotine addiction goes juice can be had in almost any strength, some folks vape 0 nic or very low nic liquids.

Just me, Money has absolutely nothing to do with why I started and continue to vape, it is all about my health, I cannot put a price on that.
Can vaping become another addiction? sure it can, just like chewing gum, video games or anything else.

That's pretty individual, me I take 4-6 pulls off my PV, leave it alone for a while (anywhere form 10 to 60 mins) then have a few more pulls If I'm doing physical work. When I'm online or working at the computer I take a pull, read or type a few lines, take a pull so, every 2 minutes or so I have a pull.

2) I live in NY and get cigs for $2.30 a pack from the reservations. I smoke about a pack a day, 2 if I'm out and about on the weekend and drinking. Comparatively, how much would juices cost me?

That depends on how much juice you vape in a day and what that juice cost. Some people only use about 1 ml per day, others 5-6 mils per day. Juice can range from a few cents per ml to around 1.00 per ml.

3) I like the cig style ecigs and am going to pick up a Smoov kit at a local vape store. I think a cig style would be most comfortable and help me quit. I've only seen a one review and I guess Smoov's juices aren't that good. Can I use any juice?

If It can be refilled, yes you can use any juice you want to use.

4) If most cig to vapers made the switch to quit smoking...why do so many spend hundreds of dollars buying every mod they can find? For many of us it's a hobby, basically a case of I do it because I can. Why do I have a dually pickup rather than a standard that would do the job just as well? Because I can. Why a Provari when a iTaste at 1/4 the cost would probably work as well for me? Because I can.

Some people cant' afford the mods, the premium juice, a ton fo DIY and rebuilding supplies, some don't enjoy doing those things. Some are simply content with whatewver they have and don't care if it's vv/vw or what it is. That's fine for them. I can afford the best, I like tinkering and, I like cooking, and experimenting so, for me rebuilding, DIY Juice and, the higher end mods are perfect.

As for addicted, well I vape 0 nic about as much as I vape juice with nic in it - nic gives more throat hit and some flavors just go best that way, others are horrid if they aren't smooth as silk, so no nic for those. And I can go off to t-town and be gone 6-7 hours w/o my PV and, never miss it so, no I don't have to vape, I like vaping so I vape again because I can.

Nicotine is a fairly harmless drug, a bit like caffeine - it's a stimulant, or a feel-good drug. The traditional delivery method of nicotine, ie burning tobacco, is proven to be bad bad bad. So, lots of folks have no intention whatsoever of quitting their nicotine addiction, just as most folks won't give up drinking coffee. Others say that they can go much longer without a vape than they could've without a smoke, so maybe there's more (or maybe less) to nicotine addiction than we thought. It's coming to light that there are MAO's (or was it MAIO's, can't remember what the letters stand for), which are highly addictive chemicals and are also produced by burning tobacco. It's been said that smokers might just be more addicted to them than the nicotine itself, which would explain why lots of vapers continue to crave cigs a bit for the first while.

So, to get back to your point...lots of folks use vaping as a safer alternative to smoking and have no intention of quitting. Their house, clothes, car, hair etc now don't smell. They won't burn the house down. They can vape in the office etc without passive vaping worries. Over in the UK it's about £8 for a pack of 20 cigs, so if I was a pack-a-day guy it would be about £240/month. That must be over $300. By mixing my own juice it costs me about £20/month, so you can see the drastic savings.

This is a really good question :D I think it can be an addiction. BUT, I honestly don't think it is a bad addiction. I personally don't get a nicotine rush from e-cigs. It's not the same. It DOES give me nicotine, I can tell when I vape a lot. But the craving (at least for me) is not the same as analogs. Vaping really clicked for me when I got good equipment. I upgraded to a VV eGo and was shocked at how much better things vaped. Then I upgraded to a Sigelei Zmax and fell even more in love! When you get that first device or juice that just knocks your socks off then you will understand. At that moment I knew vaping was a hobby for me. Even though I have made it a hobby to chase the best vaping experience I can I am not like some people on the forums here who buy every device possible. No offense guy but some of you are out of control :vapor: So for me it's about utility. What can get me the best vape. I wont buy a new device that I know preforms exactly like my Zmax since I already know how my Zmax performs. My point is that you have to realize that you are on "THE e-cig forum" and that the people here are the more dedicated side of vaping. There are people that are completely content with a tiny little eGo and 1 flavor. But they most likely are not searching the forums for some new or better technique for vaping. I was a PAD guy for a while and I had to make vaping a hobby and do it all day to quit analogs. Now I feel way healthier! I can breath again. I can play a game of ultimate Frisbee without getting winded. I didn't even realize how bad it was until I quit.

Long story short, some people replace smoking with vaping. Others use it as a means to an end and eventually quit vaping too. But the majority of the vapers you see here can be categorized as hobbyists. Even though I take my e-cig everywhere, I don't need it like I needed analogs. If I forgot my analogs I would go buy another pack no matter what I was doing. I absolutely had to have them. I always want to vape if I have free time but if I have something important going on I just put my e-cig down and go. I don't HAVE to have it. Hopefully this makes sense to you. I highly recommend quitting, even if you have to replace it with vaping. It is hands down, one of the best things I have done for myself.

Ok, so I went with the Halo G6 as I had read it's a top of the line starter kit.

I was told by the store that the battery was charged and got home, put some liquid in the cart and pulled a few times and no vapor? I can taste it, but I am not getting anything.

This is on the manual battery. I am charging the auto even though he told me he already charged them.

Also on a side note, do these have an auto shut off? Can you fry the battery say if I leave it on the charger over night?

Suggestions?

Pressing and holding the switch while taking a long slow draw?
