Ok, I'm going to order a REO. But I wonder if I'm buying the right things:

I plan to order:

REO grand $144

Reomizer 2.0 rba (is this the RM2)? $43

AW battery, charger

Or should I get the variable voltage version? or is that not necessary? what do most ppl here use anyway?

I also plan to order Kanthal wire, which gauge do you recommend?

But most importantly, I want to know that I'm getting the right atomizer (Reomizer 2.0 rba), and that's compatible with the REo grand. thx

I vote for a Grand. AW batteries are the preferred batteries for this mod. Because of the way they are made the 1600 mah work better than the 2000 mah. I know it sounds like it can't be but it is. I might suggest ordering 3ft of each gauge of wire from Rob and see which one you like best. Most find between 30 and 28 to be a good gauge. The RM2 is the preferred RBA for the Reo Grand. You might want to order an extra battery spring, having one on hand means you'll not need it. Welcome fellow Hoosier.

Sweet! I was wondering when you'd pull the trigger!

For your first Reo I would definitely go with a Grand.

The Reomizer 2.0 is the correct atomizer, we just shorten the name to RM2. For regular Grands the RM2 will fit just fine, If you go with the LP Grand then you'll want the LP RM2.

I'd recommend you get at least two AW 18650 (1600 mah) batteries so that you can just swap batts and not have to wait to vape.

For wire I'd recommend either 28 or 30 gauge Kanthal A1. Maybe grab a bit of both so you can experiment a bit and find your preference.

I would also add a couple of extra 6ml bottles and a spring or two.

I just ordered it, the shipping is via USPS, I wonder how many days it's going to arrive.

I ordered a REO grand, the RM2, 2 bottles, wick and kanthal, plus 2 AW 18650 1600mah batteries. Can you guys check if that's all I need to get started? I would hate to leave some accessories out and have to wait.

While we are at it, I've had prior attempts trying to build coils, and it wasn't too successfully. I always have the legs heat up and glow, is this supposed to happen? Is this the cause of bad taste/dry burn if the legs heat up?

BTW, is the air hole on the RM2 right next to the coil or is it above it? If you squonk too hard will liquid get to the air hole? thx

You will receive a email from PayPal with shipping. If you don't see it today or tomorrow check your spam folder. You will need to watch tracking and be home to sign. Sig required for delivery.

REO's ship quickly. You should get yours later this week from what I have seen in the past.

The air hole is on the side. It is up far enough that when you squonk you might see juice at the air hole. Unless you over squonk it will not come out. Usually the juice will come up then go back down into the bottle. Stays in the RM2 just long enough to wet the wick.

Did you get a battery charger as well? You will also need either a digital multimeter, ohm meter, or a mod that has a built in ohm meter. I would recommend getting a cheap Digital multimeter because you can use one to check for shorts, measure resistance, check your batteries voltage, etc.

He ships on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays. Just a guess but I would think it would ship on Wednesday and you would get it Friday, unless you hit it lucky and he got it early enough today.

I haven't had any problems with hot legs on the RM2. And yes that will cause bad taste.

Dan, I didn't see where you ordered an extra spring or two? I highly recommend atleast one because if you ever short your REO with an RBA build gone wrong or a bad factory atty, the spring will sag and the battery will drop (it's the safety mechanism) and you won't be able to vape.

Looks like everything you ordered is in line. Great job. Congrats. :)

Ok, Everything is ordered. I just learned how to coil the thing properly on Youtube.

Now about squonking (RM2), is it possible to flood it if you squonked too hard or too long?

At first, you can kind of flood with silica, but it doesn't take long to figure it out and you can dry burn it off.

Well, if I hold down the "squonk thumb" for about 30 seconds, I'd fill my RM2, lol! Actually, to learn, I squonked with the drip tip off, and looked inside to see what was going on. Depending on the thinness or thickness of your liquid, 2-5 seconds is a "good" squonk (thicker needs longer, emptier bottle needs a little longer, too). You'll see the liquid fill the deck of the RM2, then when you release, the excess is drawn back down into the bottle.

That's why we say it's "really" hard to accidentally over-squonk an RM2 (it CAN happen, but usually, not deliberately). The vacuum of the bottle/tube system helps with that. It's actually a deviously simple yet genius system. You'll really see what we mean once you get yours.

Guys, I ordered the Reo grand with the RM2, but now I'm wondering if I should get the VV instead? Prior to this, I've always used an Ego C Twist that can vary the voltage, I wonder if VV is necessary for the REO as well or is it not that big of a deal?

Most guys use the grand right? And do resistance do you vape at? thanks

I'm not a guy ;), but I was a staunch VV/VW gal before I got a Reo. I loved my MVP 2, but wanted something "special" with a small windfall I received. I went straight to the regular Grand, and really glad I did. I don't miss VV AT ALL, to be frank. I find the mechanical aspect and simplicity of design easy to comprehend.

Heck, I never considered myself good with my hands, but I can honestly say should I need a re-build on the Grand, I can confidently tackle that on my own. I know what every part is and what it does (well, there's not very many, anyway, that's a bonus). Not much can go wrong (other than operator error--but that's why we're here--to help each other with that).

ETA: Oh, and I wrap at around 1.2/1.3 ohms typically. Which oddly, translates to FAR higher wattage than I ever used on my MVP2. MVP2 (with an IClear on top) I like at 8 watts; Reo Grand clocks in at around 14 watts with fresh batteries at ~1.3ohms.
