So I have been kicking this around for awhile now. I smoke 2 packs a day and want to quit but have so far not able to so I thought let's give this a try. So I bought a disposable at the local beer store and was not really impressed with the vapor level. Or the looks like a Cig look. Can you guys recommend a good rechargeable that looks pretty plain (black) maybe with a good vapor? What about volcanos? Even with the cheap one I made through today only smoking 3 cigs instead of a pack and a half. Thanks in advance !!

Welcome to ECF Ryan! and congrats on your decision to try Vaping! works for me and I smoked for over 33 years :-/
I would echo the previous sentiments about the eGo, its what I have now and love it! although I did start with a 510 and it did the job too, was a pain to swap out batteries all the time though... BUT, if having a PV the size and shape of a Cig is important for you the 510 will get you there :)

I have Rivas and eGo's. Both are awesome and will get me through a day's worth of vaping. Get a Riva if you're kinda tight on cash because they're cheaper. If you have a little extra coinage, throw down on an eGo. You won't be disappointed with either one. If you only smoked 3 analogs on the disposables, then I'd be willing to bet that you'll quit once you get a Riva/eGo. It worked for me and it's worked for a whole lot of other people.

Well, when my fiance and I smoked we spent at least $300/month. That includes gas and the cost of lighters. Since we've started vaping the cost per month is around $100 - 150. That's just because we've purchased lots of different juices, atomizers, cartomizers, and empty cartridges and a DIY kit with extra flavors. For both of us to get Riva starter kits from MapVapes was less $100.

I've been vaping for a month and I have spent about $150 that includes my start up costs. I have an ego kit, usb passthrough, extra atties, extra cartridges, and I have purchased about 80ml of juice. I still have about 25 ml left right now. It's really not that bad. As long as you purchase what you need rather than what you want it can be much cheaper than smoking.

The start up cost is probably the most you will spend at one time, for what you spend a month in analogs you would be able to buy at least two kits, a passthrough, cartomizers, drip tips and enough juice to last you for the month and still have money left over. The juice is tricky, because no one here can recommend a juice you would be sure to like and you want to start with samples or use a supplier that is inexpensive to find the kind of juice you like. What makes it even more tricky is that flavors you love to eat, you may not like to vape. I love peanut flavored juice, but don't care for peanut butter on its own.

After finding a juice you like and having to occassionally buy parts, the cost of vaping is subjective. My cost per month runs about $50 now, but that is with buying backups and juice. I use a very inexpensive juice supplier (trying not to drop supplier names here) and do alot of DIY. Reasonably I could spend less than $30, but I added $20 to the cost because I want to have alot of backup attys and batteries.

Wow thanks everyone. Sounds like the ego is right for me. How economical is it compared to analogs? Sorry I have lots of questions.

You'll probably break even in the beginning. After that . . . if you don't get too excited, you will probably spend a lot less. I'm still a newbie with only about a month of vaping to go on, but I've pretty much used up an entire 40ml of juice. If those were all sample prices, that would be maybe $40 averaging out the prices. Of course, places like MadVapes has 50ml of China juices for $11. It all depends on your style.

Of course though, I've got an order for a passthrough, a car adapter for the passthrough, more batteries, different cartomizers and attys, different flavors of juices (there are just so many), and mixing supplies coming next. I've got my end-of-the-month order almost planned too.

To be fair, I am stocking up and preparing to host vaping parties, so I want to have plenty of everything on hand. It's not just my impulsiveness or OCD tendencies. LOL

I quit a couple of months ago and have to agree with Sainted_S that the hardest part has been finding a flavor that I really like. I started with mint on a Green_Nicotine disposable. The engineer in me was tempted. I tore the thing apart after a couple of days and was like "this is simple." I bought two KR8 batteries at VaporKings and a charger. Then I commited what I think now has been my only financial mistake. I bought carts, the replacement ends, from Green Nic for the princely sum of $42 for ten. After about a week I bought an Ego and some e-liquid. It was okay. RY-4 and some more mint. The RY-4 is like a vanilla tobacco and the mint was like chewing gum - blech. Luckily I also bought some pomegranate. I loved it.

I have tried many flavors since then and got into DIY flavoring. I never really had a desire to find a vape that tasted exactly like a cig but like some tobacco flavors. I do not like the bakery flavors - cheesecake, cinnamon roll and waffle for example. Not sure if it will change in time but I am enjoying the journey.

So I guess I have been more focused on flavors once I found a PV I like enough to put the hardware side of vaping to the side for now.

Best of luck. I know it seems weird right now puffing on something that does not burn, does not smell and does not need to be put out or tossed. You will look back at some point and wonder why you put up with the cost for the far less interesting hobby.

My husband and I smoked two packs a day between us, and in our 3 1/2 months of vaping exclusively we've spent $685 on miscellaneous "stuff" - we have five ego batts of different styles & sizes knocking around here (I'm a HUGE fan of the usb ego batts, as I'm always on the computer or in a car, it seems, so I plug & vape 90% of the time) and have tried, discarded or fallen in love with a heckuva lot of juice in that time.

BUT, that means overall we've saved 724 dollars so far, based on our per pack price of 6.30. Be prepared, it can be as expensive or as economical as you make it. :)

Good luck!

The word envy comes to mind..LOL :)

I was getting up into the 2-3 PAD range on some days, and more than PAD on the rest. I look around and say to myself, what a waste of money! The amount of money I was using to kill myself a bit faster. Sadly rather than health reasons, I started vaping to save money. Cigarettes are a terrbile addiction.

You have no idea how happy I was when I finally realized we'd started saving money. Then all of a sudden - even with what feels like constant BWB juice orders - we were out ahead. Once we got our equipment figured out, it was cake. (Oh, and attys. Never-ending damned attys.) My kids mock me for my spreadsheets, but this is my favorite one. :)
