The current Rivas are unregulated. Fresh off the charger they will run at 4.2V. As the battery depletes the voltage drops. The PV cuts out at 3.3V, does a blinking thing and stops producing vapor, time to recharge.

The non-twist eGos are regulated. It's been a while, but I believe they are nominal 3.3V, use a pulse width modulation to achieve that (techie thing). They will be very consistent at that voltage throughout use, until they do their own multiple blink thing and it is time to recharge.

The twist eGos are also regulated, though I don't have a feel for how well they really regulate. Subjectively the try-out one I picked up is decent.

The vapors-choice option from my immediately prior post is also pretty solid in terms of bang for the buck, just you would either need to order the boge cartomizers separately or wade through clearomizers to figure out which one(s) to try. A lot of people know clearomizers, just that for me personally I use what's called an 801 fusion cartomizer, and that would add more complexity (adapters) than you need right at the start. I try to help people find a "good enough" set up front, then play with options over time :)

Thanks again youve been extremely helpful, I enjoy learning all that I have I like to know the product in and out and exactly what I need. What I'm taking from this is 650mAh battery + 4.2V -> 3.3V will provide the good throat hits I want with a decent battery life and a good amount of starting cartos and liquid for a really good price?

After reviewing everything I think the Riva 510 kit with some strong liquid is what I need. One final thanks to everyone who helped me out. I still am very untrusting of online purchases and am going to pickup a prepaid card on my way home from work later. You can never be too safe with the cunning abilities of malicious virus, malware, keyloggers backdoor/trojans writers. I will let you all know how the 510 works for me though!

liberty-flights has a solid reputation, they've been around a decent length of time. Here's their ECF Supplier forum area: Liberty Flights

(The battery will spend most of the time somewhere around 3.7V, typically, for output. Lithium batteries have characteristic output curves, generally drop from their peak pretty quickly, to their nominal voltage, and the underlying battery is a nominal 3.6 or 3.7V.)

Strictly run time between recharges, for a given resistance or voltage. A 1200 mAh has almost twice the stored energy of a 650, will run about twice as long.

You run through the battery mAh faster with either lower resistance or higher voltage/power (if using a twist).

650 - 1300 mAh is the range of classic "fat battery" eGo/Riva type devices. "Standard" 510 PV will be 180 - 280 mAh; due to the smaller mAh you can't use the little batteries with low resistance cartomizers/atomizers -- they draw too much current for it to be a safe/good thing to do.

Thank you everyone for your help I have a much much better understanding of all the working parts in the E-cig now and I feel like I can make an educated choice when I buy it. do you think there is a chance I would find this at the store that I had posted. Thats the only one close and its an hour away. Is this worth even going to?

Kalifornia's totally right, you would be better off to web shop one of the supporting vendors of this forum and save yourself the trip/gas and frustration when you can't get a good 510 kit. I wish you all the best and look forward to hearing how all this turns out for your.

I have been nearly 6 months off analogs, I can run again!

Nice! One thing...that single carto is gonna be toast looooong before you toke that 60ml. Plan accordingly.

True, if that's just one carto, you might get about 20 ml through it before something goes wrong, but newer people in particular have to get the hang of cartos. If you vape it dry, get a burnt taste, it's toast (bad taste won't leave). You might want to check with them, upgrade slightly in that one area.

Assuming that's a 2 ohm, with the twist go gentle, start at the lower voltage end. I run 2.5 - 3 ohms (mainly 2.5 ohms) in the 4 - 5V region.

Good setup.

I looked back just to double check and the carto is a pack of 5 even though it doesn't specify that on the order list. I looked around the store a lot last night and found they did have 2.0 ohm LR Boge cartomizers :D and they're actually cheaper than on liberty flight. I think I got a better deal individually picking each thing out from vapors choice rather than buying a starter kit from liberty flights.

Could you clarify the difference between a cartomizer, clearomizer and tank? Sorry I was on V-c last night and I was trying to figure out what the clearomizers where exactly. Also I noticed in all of their starter kits they came with "tanks". I tried to figure out what they were and I think I have the general idea I just don't understand what the difference is between these 3 things. Thanks :)

Cartomizer is an atomizer and cartridge combined into 1 device.

Clearomizer is a clear cartomizer that uses wicks to feed juice to the atomizer instead of stuffing (like a cartomizer)

A tank typically is a clear tube that has a punctured cartomizer ran through it. you fill the tank with juice and the cartomizer gets filled from the small holes, which then feeds to the atomizer inside the cartomizer.

Edit - I described a tank cartomizer, other tanks are available that operate similar to a atomizer + cartridge setup. Ive not used or tried one so not an expert on that.
