In that case, double nuts! Ah well, hopefully you guys will make it such a success that it will come back to Philly in 2012, right? Just think of me in March, in Indonesia and no doubt out of supplies, having to contemplate the nasty evil Indonesian analogs :D And yea, Russian. Go figure - I still haven't worked that one out, but its happened more times than can be chalked up to randomness.

If you are going to be away from ready power supplies, TractorSupply or other farm dealers sell 12/24v solar chargers for electric/cattle fences for minimal cost. Amperage is kind of low but could be a source of being able to "slow charge" batteries if no other power source is available; just wire in a cigarette lighter female plug on the output leads of the solar unit and "voiola" stand alone charger. would be slow but definitely effective.

I wouldn't take none of that stuff. All I'd need is 700 mL's of juice, a bag of CE2 carto's and a way to fill them. Few extra batts and a charger, (if you have a way to charge them). But, I've been told. . .I'm no fun at all.

Cheers,

I second the notion of keeping things simple until you get back from your trip. Then you can experiment to your hearts content. Reports are that low resistance attys can shorten battery life, sometimes by quite a bit. I also recommend the E2 as it should be very durable. Some of the less expensive juices are very good as well. Good luck on you trip. JD

And I can use either of these - ce2 808D-1/901 or the 808D-1/901 XL cartos, without any addons needed for the SD mkii right? Bear in mind I don't own the 510 converter for the SD, so unless they are that much better, rule the 510s out until I get back from my trip and start experimenting more.

In order to use an KR808d carto on a SDMKll you need a 901/808 adapter the SD is not vented for the 808's although they do screew on

Yes, if you want to run 808's they are cheap a couple of bucks each. I would say get a few if you are going to be running 808 carto's. If you just want to run 901 atty's you need nothing. They send you a 901 to 510 in the kit so if you want to use carto's for a 510 you can. They are a great PV I would not even worry about a back up PV if I were going somewhere for a long peroid of time there is nothing to break using a SDMKll. I like the LR901's but get a couple of drip tips, makes life easier.
