So I've been vaping for 8 months and for the last month or so im having alot of coughing, sore throat, phlegm.. Not very pleasant stuff and im wondering if anyone is experiencing anything similar.

To date I have switched juice (50/50 mix @12mg nic) no change.. Lowered nic to 6mg, no change.. Switched to a lower pg then to zero pg, no change.. I am attempting to change my delivery system as I have a mech/mod on order and am gonna try dripping..

I am really at a loss here. I am staying hydrated and every day vaping less and less due to the discomfort. I do lung inhale because thats the only way i know how to do it.

If I may ask? How many years did you smoke?
I got diagnosed with moderate emphysema after 40 years of smoking.
Had some of the same symptoms. See your doctor to be sure.
Sincerely hope this is not the case for you.

That said your body and lungs may finally be purging all that tar and toxins.

Sorry if I seem brutal but I'm just trying to be honest with you.

All the best.

I know this is a weird question, but have you started being more active lately? After I had been vaping several months, I got to the point where I was feeling better and I started walking everyday. I also started coughing up "stuff" more and I attributed it to the fact that maybe my lungs where just ridding themselves of the many years of abuse. I did not feel sick or think that I was at time. It went away of course but it seems like it took a while. This was just my experience. It is also quite possible in the midst of cold and flu season that you may have a virus. If it was me, I would probably get some Musinex type expectorant and increasing my liquid intake and see if that helps. If it continues, I also would recommend a trip to the doctor.

Congrats on the 8 months vaping though. Isn't it awesome? Continued success to you.

It could be a cold or infection. It could be a allergy that has developed over time to something in the juice. It could be an allergy to something else in your environment. It could be a few other things not vape related. IMO the best thing would be to see a doctor.

Otherwise, try to stop vaping for a day or two and see if that helps. If you can't stop completely, vape when you really have to but don't inhale at all. You get a lot of nicotine through the mucous membranes in your mouth and nose. Maybe use the patch for a couple of days to help too.

If you can eliminate vaping then it's one of the other items. After one month of these symptoms I would do something now because that's long enough to tell me it's not going to go away unless I do something different.

If you're like me, it could be sinus issues. Mine always seem to be worse in the winter. I find t bat fluticisone (generic Flonase) helps a lot. It's a nasal spray. I think you have to get a prescription from your docotor, though. It helps me immensely with drainage, which causes sore throat and coughing.

Actually, Rat2chat, I have been more active by means of going to the gym and not just walking by all the cardio equipment but actually getting on them.. With excellent results if I may say so.

Thank you everyone for your input. Im leaning toward it being an everlasting cold/allergy/sinus issue.. Having 3 kids at home someone is always sick it seems.. guess it's my turn

One thing I haven't seen anyone mention yet is that, if you quit smoking 8 months ago when you started vaping, you're right at the point where the cilia in your lungs have pretty much grown back fully. These are little hairs inside your lungs that basically function as the cleaning crew - they sweep away mucous and other crap that builds up.

While it doesn't happen to everyone, a good percentage of vapers who were long term smokers start to have a resurgence of coughing and phlegm at this point (different for everyone, but somewhere between 6-12 months) for a few weeks. It's that cleaning crew getting rid of all the crap build-up that you created for smoking for so long. Some people even start coughing up black crud. If that happens to you, remember that it's your body getting healthier.

Smoking has long-term effects.
