After going over this thread:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/health-safety-e-smoking/992-danger-filter.html

I started to get a bit concerned about the filter situation. The local pet shop didnt have any Fluval, so I had to go with this big bag of "Loving Pets" Filter Fiber. 100 percent polyester. It is not in layers like the fluval rather a large bag that looks like cotton stuffing you would get at a sewing shop.

It is also a bit more fine it appears than the pre filled cartridges I have had in the past. It doesn't say there are any other chemicals in it at all. It just states the 100 polyester. Is this the same stuff that is going in the pre filled filters I have been buying in the past?

And in all honesty, is this just a personal opinion or preference if this stuff really is safe?

I don't know about the safety of it, but that is just another reason for dripping and not messing with any of the fillers out there.

I don't know if it's any safer or not either. I've only ever used the foam that came in the carts or the blue foam. Quite honestly I was more worried about the blue foam than the white stuff but that may just be me. Neither is an ideal option for sure.

Doots is right, you should check into dripping or maybe a juice box. It's been three weeks since I've had to mess with carts and fillers and I can't tell enough how much I don't miss it.

Lol. That's right Kargonet. I cant tell you how much I didnt miss it either. I stopped the stuff altogether after a month of vaping. I didnt know you could drip until I found this forum back in 2009.. I am now glad there are REO mods that have bottom feeding systems and I dont even drip any more. You can beat the bottom feeder mods for no mess anything..

Ditto, the REO and some dripping and your all set. Nothing but juice and atty, thats how I roll. :)

Yep, and believe me if anyone can make a mess it's me! Now I'm virtually mess free. No more paper towels or tissues for when I over fill my cart or drip too much. No more waggin' around juice and an extra cart...got everything I need in one compact little system and I'm a happy and tissue/paper towel free vaper!

And instead of spending all your money on carts, cartos and filler you can get you some great drip tips. There's a ton of choices out there and most of them are relatively inexpensive until you get into the stainless steel ones but those are sweet!

I'm a die-hard atty/cart fan, somehow. The burning taste is usually a result of my atomizer not being wet enough, at least in my experiences.

I've never, EVER had an issue of filler actually burning or melting. I'd be surprised if a stock battery/atty (510 Joye) could burn it, but then again I'm no chemist. I use Highping's cart mod, except I make my fillers a bit more cone shaped than what is shown with the cart mod. I have yet to have any problems, I don't really need to refill my carts. My rule is if I haven't vaped in an hour or so, ESPECIALLY after charging, I put a drop on my atomizer, and add a drop to my cart IF it needs it. I only get that burnt taste if the atty is burning off the little juice that is on the wick, so I'll add a drop, let it soak for a minute, then vape away. Also, my friends that vape that use my modified cart mod that I had modified off Highping's mod don't have any issues either, so I guess we're all doing something right. That's my :2cents: but I don't speak for everyone.

:) I wish you luck and hope you find the right vaping system for you, not everyone is alike so I'm sure you'll get it! :D

basically i have been using a joye 510 for about 3 months now and have been going through juice at pretty good clip. i thought the dripping method was putting a few drops in the atomizer and then still attaching a filter end to it. i was under the impression that dripping would require more work and constantly pulling out the juice to fill the atty with a few drops. i take it this is not the case?

ill have to research this REO deal and see what is going on. sometimes i would run in to cases where the filter is too full of juice and i get it in my mouth..etc. and then other cases and awful smell just the same that smells like something is burning and it is usually the plastic at the end of the filter i believe.

in either case i am definitely doing something wrong here and need a better system. i am constantly getting juice on my hands and on the outside of the atty and filters and so on....i am going through hand sanitizer like crazy and have to constantly wipe everything off.

now i have this big bag of poly or whatever and it just feels more silky and less cotton like than the pre filled cartridges i have had. i never buy pre filled, i just remember what they were like and i have bought plenty of empty cartridges just for the filter aspect.

when i got home and felt this poly stuff i bought instead of the fluval, i just felt a little weird so i came back here to make sure. thanks for all the replies...keep them coming if possible and also thanks for the heads up on the post stuff. i figured that but didnt really mind so its cool. :)

If it's overfilled, take the atty apart from the cart, then blow out all of the juice. Add one or two drops to the atty, then connect the Joye back together, let it sit up cart-side up, and let the atty soak up. After a minute or so, it should vape fine.

Most pre-filled and pre-stuffed carts have WAY too much poly-fil, so they go dry very quickly. I love http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/cartridge-mods/79418-highping-cart-mod-simple-gets.html because it changed how I vaped with carts completely! :D

Remember, if it bubbles, there's too much juice~
If it tastes burnt, or it sizzlees, the atty isn't wet enough. Add one drop, let it soak for a minute, then try it.

I used to get juice all over me, but that's a rare occasion. I still carry tissues with me though hehe.

I have two questions...
1.) When dripping you do not need any polyester filling within the aparatus (for wicking)?
2.) If not then wouldn't the atomizer become over saturated and possibly be ruined?
3.) If no to question two, then how much would someone need to drip for average smoking (everytime you smoke add a drip?)

Thanks ahead of time...

Everybody's dripping technique is slightly different. No filling in cartridge is good, drip tip is best because you don't have to line the cart up with the atomizer. I drip 3 drops, then vape until loss of vapor/flavor, start over. I get about 10 good puffs each 3 drips - if you're new, it kind of answers the "length to vape compared to a cigarette" question.
