I've been vaping exclusively for two years now, and have finally decided to venture into the dripping world.

I've reached this point because, despite loving the pre-made, all-in-one set ups - I've found myself wanting more. More vapor, more flavor, and overall - just more. For less!

I decided to start small, and easy.

I picked up:

istick 100w
sapor rda
28, 26, and 24g kanthal A1 wire
Japanese organic cotton
All of the rebuilding necessities (ohm reader, ceramic tip tweezers, coil master, ect)

All afternoon/evening, I've been building coils. I know that it's not going to be learned overnight - but the amount of research I've put in is rather frustrating as I'm seeing it not paying off.

The 28g wire is practically impossible for me to work with. The 26 has been better, and I've successfully made a build. it's .66; however, I was aiming for a 1.0 or 1.2ohm build. I want my flavor, coolness, and vapor production! And I'm barely getting anything with this .66ohm build. I get more vapor and flavor from my ego one!

Please tell me any tips or tricks you experienced builders have? Perhaps something I'm doing wrong?

Initially, I made a coil using a drill bit. For instance, if it was 6 wraps of 26g and came out to .66. Then I made another one with 7 wraps and it came out to .96 ohms. I did it again with an 8th wrap and got 1.21 ohms.

It was trial and error. Different sized drill bits and using coiling devises. It got me going. Same with wicking, I watched YouTube videos of my RDA being built and mimicked. I asked questions on here like, "should the coil be high or low over the air hole?" Why.

Keep going!

Did you calculate for a single coil and build duals? A second coil will halve your resistance. Here are some pics for examples:
Plume Veil with dual 24G NiChrome 80 6 wraps @ 3mm .26 ohms

CLT2+ with a pair of claptons 26/32 6 wraps @ 1/4" .24 ohms

Rampage 24G N80 Trips 6 wraps @ 3mm .15 ohms (don't try this on a mech!!!!!!)

Try to center your ciols in the airflow, both horizontally and vertically. Horizontal centering is more important. Vertical placement can affect flavor more though. Above airflow for more flavor if there is room under the cap. Don't let the coil touch anything metal or it will short. Leave the coil jig/mandrel/screwdriver/drill bit in the coil until you tighten it down to help it keep it's shape. Wicking will vary depending on the RDA. Not familiar with the sapor. I think it's a top airflow with channels down the sides? If so, vertical coil placement isn't much of an option for you.
