Hi there,

I bought a Kanger MT-3 eGo B/C Clearomizer, and well - I'm having a leakage problem after about 3 - 4 days of use. Also getting a bit of a burnt taste. I assume the coil is finished. I had 2 coils - other one also gave issues so I washed it and now it leaks like there's no tomorrow - so I guess I stuffed that one up.

I would just like to enquire how long do the coils for these usually last, considering I vape about 2.6 ml a day.

Also, what is the lifespan like on the Vivi Nova tank coils?

The Kanger ones look like this:

It depends on the juice, but on a juice that is not thick I vape about 10-15ml before it starts to backwash and darken the juice (and the taste goes off). At this point the coil can be fixed up easily by a thorough wash in hot water. I then air dry for 24 hours, and if it's got a layer of gunk on the coil (usually has) then I dry burn to remove all gunk off the coil. I then like to wash again to remove all traces of the ash and freshen the coil and wick up. Keep doing this until the wick falls apart or the coil pops (6,7,8 or more times, usually).

The thing that puts me off the Kanger type tanks is the lack of access to the coil for cleaning. I didn't start vaping to spend a bucket load of money on coils. Vivis and CE4 rebuildables give you direct access to the coils to clean and fix them. Something that you can't even see easily is more of a problem. For giggles I'm going to start re-wiring my CE4 and vivi heads - I think I can probably do a better job that some of the ones I've received in packets, with uneven or loose loops.

Thanx for the reply!

Sounds like I will be happy with my ViVi Nova once it arrives. Ordered it today. I ordered some replacement heads for the MT3 as well, maybe faulty heads I had, or user error. LOL

I think you'll like the vivi, but it won't wick as well as the bottom coil kangers... Nothing top coil will. Research the vivi heads and how to get the most out of them. I'm finding that notching the top silicone cap so as to not squash the wicks works really well. You can find tutorials and video articles on the vivis that should answer all of your questions.

OK, I've figured out what is wrong with the leaking, Very poorly wicked. What is the best material to use for a wick?

The material used is a silica fibre however pure cotton fibre wicks can work. If the problem is that the wick does not block the holes between the tank and the atomiser chamber enough to stop leaking, usually just re-arranging the fibers is enough to stop the leaking. It's a common problem with bottom coil tank atomisers.
