Reassurance?

First day analog free! First day vaping. I'm thrilled with Vapor4Life's service and everything is great... except for the pre-filled cartos. They taste atrocious... like smoking perfume. I received a few samples and I can't say I liked the taste of any. I plan on ordering e-liquids from MyFreedomSmokes, but I'm a bit worried.

Basically, I'm looking for some assurance that filling blanks tastes much better. What is your personal preference? Because if this is how they all taste, then I already miss my Camels and Lucky Strikes. :/

There are lots of different taste out there in e-juice. They do NOT all taste the same. Even the same flavor among different venders will taste a bit different. The thing is that everyone's taste is all a bit different so what taste great to me might not taste great to you and vice versa. Also, remember that in the first few weeks of vaping your taste buds may change quite a bit so what you like or dont like in the beginng may be entirely different a few weeks later. Get samples in 5ml bottles (or 10ml bottles but not larger) to try them out and see what you think before purchasing anything 30ml or larger.

Fresh made juice often needs to steep for a week or so before the real flavor comes through so also keep that in mind.

When I started I purchased juice from vendors I was also purchasing hardware from to help cut down on shipping charges. Unfortunately while I could vape it, none of the juice I got was really what I was looking for in terms of taste. So I did a bunch of research here in ECF and decided to try VaporBomb and found what I was looking for in my e-juice. I've since also tried FreedomSmokeUSA and like some of their flavors too. Now I'm just starting to DIY my own juice so we'll see how that goes.

It may take a bit but keep on trying different juice and you WILL find some that you love.

Congrats and welcome....

Yes...filling your own cartos will result in a much better vaping experience...What juices taste good will vary greatly from one vaper to another...I thought I'd only be able to vape tobacco juices so I ordered a bunch of samples...Only found two I could really say were acceptable...I'd try some simple, familiar flavors to start with...Maybe try a few coffee juices ..Awesome Vapors special roast is my favorite so far...

The first thing I did was find an acceptable flavor I could vape all day...Start with at least 18mg...That will take care of your nic fix...After that you can spend more time at your leisure to find other flavors you might like...The folks here are really friendly...and more than willing to help with any questions you might have..

I started with prefilled cartos from a different retailer. I got menthol and RY4 cartos. The menthol were fair but not great. The RY4 cartos were so bad they are unusable. I even tried cleaning them out and using them again but just the lingering taste is too bad to ignore.

I moved on to blank Premium and CoolCarts from V4L and Turbo cartos from vapornine. I started with some juice from V4L that I did not like but their Mint juice is ok. Then, I got Vanilla from vapornine which I love. Since then, I have bought several lots of juice from the classifieds and found several juices that I really like.

So, to answer your question, Yes! Filling blanks with juice is WAY better. But, you may need to try several juices before you find what you like. I started with 2 bottles and I now have about 25 in all kinds of different flavors. About 6 of them are juices that I plan on buying going forward. The rest....

Try one or more of these suppliers:

FreedomSmokeUSA
Ms Ts Bakery Essentials Inc. Electronic Cigarettes - Flavors for the Electronic Cigarette. E-Juice
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...rum/94181-backwoods-brew-ordering-thread.html
VaporBomb.com

These are just a few good e-juice suppliers and there are many more. If you don't see something you like check out the E-Liquid Reviews here at ECF:

E-Liquid Reviews

You'll find flavors you want and will like and yes, getting your own flavors is much better usually than pre-filled cartos. But I have to admit ... if you get the right ones, even those can be good.

Welcome to vaping! I just started two weeks ago, so I am no expert. I too did not like the cartomizers. It could be they had primer on them and I just needed to hit them longer before they got good but since I also ordered some juice I use that instead. I have been trying juice from 4 or 5 different sites. Some of it is good, some of it not so much. You just have to keep experimenting until you find something you like. I like RY4 from Altsmoke, even though its made in china. I also like the High Voltage and High Voltage Octane line from NHaler.com. I find that most of time I vape tobacco flavors but I like to throw in some menthol and fruit flavors a couple times a day as well. I did stop filling carts though and I direct drip now which seems to have more flavor. I also started using low resistance attys which seem to give me a better hit. I also agree with grandmoto5 about letting juices cure or steep for a few days. Some of the juices I thought I didnt like ended up tasting better the second time I tried them. Stick with it and you will settle in on what you like... Good luck and happy vaping!

I got my first carts in wrong. I couldn't figure out why they tasted so funny . . . ohhhhhh, I'm melting the plastic. They tasted a little better after that. They tasted wayyyyyyy better after WASHING and refilling them.

It will depend on the juice though. I have coffee from a supplier that sucked so bad that I can't even get the vomit taste out of the atty that I used it with. (The juice tasted like vomit, I didn't add my own personal ingredient.) I'm letting that juice steep though, just to give it a chance.

One piece of advice I'll give you is a lot of people think the tobacco flavors taste terrible. I am one of them. There are many who enjoy them, but don't be afraid to try some food flavors. It is ridiculous how much better they taste than you think. I got banana bread from madvapes and I figured at best it would taste like banana laffy taffy. It actually tastes like banana bread.

My point is don't be afraid to experiment. I was a 1.5 pad non filter smoker and I figured I would hate the food flavors. Turns out I much prefer them. But to answer your question, the prefilled carts are disgusting. The flavors you drip taste MUCH better.

I REALLY want to try bacon! I love bacon! Take some bacon, lay it out on a broiler pan, sprinkle a little sugar on top, a couple minutes under the heat! BAMMM! I'm afraid of vaping it though. Maybe when I get enough juices I know will keep me good for a while . . . . *googles bacon e-juice*

I've had a few pre-filled carts that were alright, but nothing compares to buying a good juice and refilling your own. The hard part is finding what works for you. I tend to lean more towards the tobacco flavors, but a friend of mine can't stand them. He likes candy and drink flavors, and they don't do much for me. I tried his Vanilla Custard today and have had a headache ever since. I can't get that smell or taste out of my head...lol Now I'm trying to cover it up with some RY4. With all the flavors out there you will surely find some that appeal to you.

I like the candy and fruit flavors. I had tried some "tobacco" flavors that made me want to puke, so I gave up on that for a while. I tried some RY4 and really liked it, but then it was always out of stock. I ended up making my own version at Gourmet Vapor, which turned out to be wonderful. I also created a BananaBacca flavor and these two have started becoming the daily vapes for me and my fiance.

Thanks guys. Aside from an occasional sore throat, I'm definitely adjusting. My pre-filleds still aren't the best, but I think they needed "breaking in"- they're tolerable now. I finally chose a couple juice vendors :D (an agonizing process... I'm picky) and ordered:

Johnson Creek:
-Original Sampler Pack: J.C. Original, Black Cherry, French Vanilla, Chocolate Truffle, Arctic Menthol, Tennessee Cured, Espresso, Mint Chocolate, Simply Strawberry, Summer Peach
-Spiced Apple Cider (I can't begin to tell you how excited I am for this one)

Ms. T's Bakery:
-Snickerdoodle
-Cherry Cola Slushy
-Blueberry Crumble
-Orange Dreamsicle
-Root Beer Float
-Waffles

I'm tempted to try Lucky Strike and Djarum Black from MFS next despite knowing it just won't be the same as analogs...

definately, without a doubt, get your own fluids, do it, that is the correct way to go!

HEHEHE, not only is it cheeper but i also find that the flavors are much better also. While youre ordering new fluids, take the opportunity to purchase flavors other than tobacco. Most dont think they would like other flavors, and most are wrong. they come here to admit it all the time, and i highly recommend at least trying them.

Keep in mind that you are not smoking a cig. You are not limited in flavors!

Enjoy@

*edit*
Nice flavor selection! and i am jealous of the spiced apple cider! Now that i know a vendor that sells it, i will be heading over there to place an order for it. LOL my wife is going to laugh at me though... i am a bit of a cider junky! I have some frozen year round!

I wouldnt be concerned about them being the same as analogs as much as i would focus on how much better tasting they are than analogs!

It's only a small concern for the tobacco flavors only- because I'm unsure how I'd like a non-burnt tobacco taste as opposed to the burnt tobacco flavor I've been accustomed to, if that makes sense.

But yeah, cider all the way! Omnomnom.
