Ok so my current build is 4/3 wrap with a cotton wick.

I have Braided Silica Wick and Flat Wire.

My question is what kind of build would be beast for the braided wick and flat wire. And Also do i need to torch the wick and the wire?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated since I am new to this rebuildable game.

As for builds, depends on what atties, what mod, what airhole size etc.

True you don't necessarily have to torch, but I do it anyways just to get some unwanted germs off the wick. It might be a little overkill, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. This coming from a long time cig smoker LOL.

I torch all new ceramic cups, wicking media, and wire, as a matter of practice. Especially when dealing with ekowool.

Ok now that torching issue is solved. What about a good build with braided silica and flat wire

I have never heard of flat wire, is it kanthal?

It's just a flat ribbon wire...and yes it is kanthal

oh ok thanks, still learning lol. I have only done builds with 3/4 wrap using 28 gauge kanthal wire, getting about .7 ohms

Typically I have never heard of ribbon wire and silica. But I personally HATE silica. I like 32 GA kanthal on Cotton and SS Mesh. That is all I use. Silica mutes flavors and is a poor wicking material.

Double up the silica at the coil for some wick volume. Thats about it, things are pretty simple with silica.

Most of the times the build depends more on your air hole and how good your coil is. That means right contact with wick and no hot spots.

Ribbon is great, but a little hard to make a nice coil in a dripper.

I prefer silica as long as you clean it and give it several hits to get seasoned. Gives a good smooth vape compared to the harsher mesh. I wouldn't use it in a genesis mind you due to wicking, but in an rda its perfect. Some would say the opposite but that's why rebuildables are so good you can make them how you like them.
