The mesh is the key. When you roll your mesh, roll it with a pin or something. And you really have to oxidize it, not just burn. After you oxidize, make sure you can see through the rolled mesh from one end to the other. And when you trim the ends, it will be sort of like flatten so make sure you shape it tube again.

Before you juice it up, did you do the dry burn and tune the coil rounds to make sure they fire up evenly? The coil end anchoring to positive and negative is important. Make sure they are secured but not overly tighten. If the coil ends come loose, your ohms will flatuate i.e. go higher. You may be vaping at 1.4 now but next moment it may be 2.0. Constantly check your ohms for new build.

In any case, it takes some time to run in. If you have done all these, give a couple of days see how and decide if you want to rebuild it.

this is what i did..

roll SS mesh and test fit on the DID and it fit nicely not too loose not too tight ..after which i oxidize it using my stove till its red hot and dip it in water few times ...fit it back to the DID and coil up 4 rounds ..dry run it to make sure it's even ..run on 3.3v and from the start the coil only heat up with hot shot on the top ..from there i make some adjustment to it till all heat up correctly (all heat up red evenly) ..feeling good about as i pour some juice in test the vapor levels ..fire-up and ok it works ..detected at 1.4ohms ......cap it and did my first pufffffffff........and OMFG ...it S.U.C.K.S....metal taste ..dry burn after 2nd puff ..about 5 sec drag only ....OMG whats wrong...

Did you fire consistently to make sure you've gotten rid of them phantom shorts? Like: pulse pulse. Fire for 2 seconds. Pulse pulse. Fire for 4 seconds. Pulse pulse. Fire for effect. Full coil glow. Stop. Repeat. Just to make sure your coiling is not a fluke.

This step seems slow. I do not know how to explain. But after handling shorts, you will know it's time to fill the juice when it's time.

Try the drill bit coiling method. After installing the coil and removing the drill bit, proceed to pulse it to an even coil glow for a few seconds. Put in your oxidized/flamed wick. Fire for effect. If there's a short, be sure to stop firing and MAKE SURE your coils do not stick to the wick. If it does, turn the wick abit or nudge the coil that stickled to the wick. Because if you don't, you will burn through your wick when you pulse again. And it will cause you shorts forever.

If u taste metal, likely you're having a hot spot.
Fire and hold it there, if the coil is not lighting up evenly, then you'd get your answer. Shoot a pic for us. We would be able to help better.
