Rebuildable question

Hi vapers! A newbie question. This has probably already been discussed... sorry, lol

So I want to get into rebuilding. I'm obsessed with the topic of vaping and research it constantly. I love to tinker and I've read and watched plenty about how to do it and the safety precautions. The question I have is, what kind of tanks can you rebuild that are not drippers? I do want an RDA, but I also want to rebuild for my boyfriend or at least get him to do his own and he doesn't want to drip. So what kind of tanks would you recommend? Are there any that do not leak when on their side? He's the type to lay his ecig down all the time.

I'd also like to know which are the best for flavor!

I know some people rebuild on non rebuilable products as well. Thoughts? Thanks!

Where you least expect it....
Welcome to the forum. A good place to start your search would be in the Rebuildable Atomizer Systems. Within that sub-forum, you will want to look in the RTA section:

RTA

Plenty of discussions on various RTA's that are available on the market.

Thanks I completely forgot about the subforums... I was hoping to get my 5 post quota in and I posted one a long time ago. hoping it still counts. LOL plus I just had random questions and it would seem a bit crazy to post them in one huge post. Now that I have my quota, should I post this in that subforum, or someone could move it? Or do I just leave it at this?

Not a problem. Probably a good idea to make a new thread in that sub-forum if you have specific questions about RTA's or RDA's. Also a good idea just to look around those sub-forums. As it might give you some ideas on what you might want to purchase. There's no reason to move this one, as you will be receiving plenty of suggestions.

What type of draw do you like? Are you a direct-to-lung or mouth-to-lung hitter?

Not a mouth to lung, and I don't really have much experience on that many devices to know what type of draw I like, but I did try one at one of my local vape store that was too airy. She told me to use the airflow ring to get less air. That helped. I can't remember what device that was, lol. But I'm guessing that means I don't like a whole lot of air... lol

Hello, the most popular rebuildable tank type Imo is the kayfun. The new kanger subtanks do also come with a rebuildable piece as well.

After that you have many dual coil variations like the fogger, orchid, billow, etc.

Okay, I HAVE to ask because I'm so curious but what's the difference of those coil variations? If it's too much info to type lol... then where is a good source of information on that subject? There is so much I've already researched and I've done it for weeks, yet I still feel like a complete noob... :p

Did you smoke? Do you inhale the vapor into your lungs?

If you don't like an airy draw then you ARE NOT a direct-to-lung hitter. You need a lot of air to do that.

EEK sorry I meant I'm not direct to lung... lol. I pull then inhale. No, I never smoked except for socially sometimes but was never addicted. I am just a vaping enthusiast and do it for the novelty and most importantly the flavors.

Don't worry I have been here a while and am still noobish.... ;) You can make different coils like macro, , micro, nano, twisted coils and so on is what I am getting from that post and have different set up on each RDA or tank.

When you start a thread over in the RDA Forum or RTA Forum make sure you let people know that you don't like an airy draw. Otherwise you will be getting a lot of recommendations for RTAs/RDAs that are VERY AIRY. Those are the ones that are all the rage now.

The Kayfun & Russian are known to be a tight draw. You would probably like the draw of either of those.

**Added** Also let people know you are going to be building around 1.5 ohms to 2.0 ohms. You will want a tank/dripper that allows you to build a single coil. Trying to get two-3ohm or two-4 ohm coils in a tank/dripped will be next to impossible in most RDAs/RTAs.

The tank commanders are going to rain down their righteousness on me for saying this but, IMO rebuilding on tanks is just not worth the hassle when there are prebuilt/replacable atomizer options out there (Atlantis & The sub-ohm) that will give as good, if not better in most cases, of an experience in vapor production and flavor as any of the RTA's on the market. I'm about 99% dripper, 1% tanker and the only tank that turns out to be convenient for me to use is the Atlantis.

My experience with RTA's is usually something like this (and I've used or owned about 80% of the major/popular RTA's):
-Disassemble into 200 tiny pieces
-build & mount coil
-wick coil, juice and test
-reassemble & fill
-test draw, be proud
-find juice on mod, fiddle with air flow
-more juice from somewhere... Shake fist at sky! "Why me?"
-drain tank, disassemble
-rewick, reassemble, refill
-test draw. Wet "Burbally" sound. Thin whispy vapor.
-find juice on mod, angrily fiddle with airflow. Gnashing of teeth.
-DRAIN & DISASSEMBLE!!
-rewick, reassemble, refill
-test draw. Happy. All good
-find juice on mod
-Have mild stroke

Atlantis experience:
-Dissassemble (3 parts- tank, chimney, base)
-prime coil (if new)
-Fill tank, reassemble
-Vape
-Vape more, gf complain "hazy" in TV room, trying to watch walking dead
-Blow vapor at GF. Tickle fight!

Now, YMMV but I could never get my head around doing something as complicated and tedious as RTA building when there was an alternative that gave equal or better results. I mean, the whole point of having a tank is that it's convenient, right?

Just my 2 cents. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I'll see you on the threads but don't stand too close to me bc I feel a jihad coming my courtesy of the tanker-builders. :)
