ok just put my order in thu temco for 28, 30 , and 32 guage kanthal a1 wire. Now I will be able to rebuild some protanks and as soon as I get my provari and my kayfun I will be able to build those as well....already got cotton so I should be good to go right? No need for silica or mesh right? I can do it with just wire and cotton?
Ida skipped the 32 and gotten 29

I wouldn't dismiss silica wick all together, there are times its easier and in some cases better. I prefer cotton in just about everything, but I have gotten just as good flavor from silica on a few builds. One case is the kayfun with a navy nest build, Silica is a little easier and just as tasty as the same build using cotton.
What is the benefit of taking the dual coil to a single coil, besides what I assume to be an easier rebuild?

Ok everyone, im having a problem......So ill begin with this.....I used a 2.4 ohm coil in my protank and set my provari to 4.2 volts and that's where I liked it. So I got my kayfun 3.1 today and build it from a video.....the micro coil came out to 1.9 ohms and I used cotton. put it on the provari and tried all kinds of settings but could not find one I liked at all.....too light of throat hits.....very little vapor.....went all the way from 3.5 volts up to 4.5 volts and just would get even close to a good hit. did I build to low of a coil? use to little or too much cotton? I don't know. Should I not build a micro coil for the kayfun? Should I not use cotton? I don't understand. Im also using space jam Starship at 18 mg......I put the protank back on the provari at the same setting and it was great. Oh by the way I used a 3/32 drill bit and 28 guage kanthal
Ok so i have a question......I just got some 24 guage kanthal and i want to do a micro coil for the kayfun 3.1 on top of a provari, it has to be between 1.2 and 1.5 ohms. What size bit and how many wraps should i do?
the way Im figuring it,
to get 1.2Ω yull need to wrap 24ga 17 times around

> 1/16 bit would be 20wraps...

Sounds like too high of an ohm coil for the gauge kanthal you're using.
The lower gauge kanthal the longer it takes to heat up and the more wattage it needs to operate properly. A 1.9ohm coil with 28 gauge kanthal will probably take 1-2 seconds to heat up to a good operating temperature.
You can either hit the fire button and wait about a second before taking a draw, or you can increase the power to the coil so it heats faster. Personally I never vape below 13 watts in my Kayfun which would work out to about 5 volts in your Provari.
