Perfect thread. Im waiting on 28g to try my first coil build. On a protank clone.

I tried a 28ga coil in a PT2. Couple of problems there, at least for me. To get the ohms up in a microcoil, it needs lots of wraps. It can be done, but it's a tight fit in a PT2 head. It vaped OK, but not as good as a 30ga build. At least for me. As a specific form, the PT2 has limitations as to how well it will function, if you know what I mean. I suppose it's best to stick with what it can do, and do awfully well BTW, rather than trying to re-invent the wheel and ask the thing to do what it just can't do.

That's what my rda's and Kayfuns are for...

This will hold me over till I save up for a russian or kayfun. I am pretty handy so I am sure with trial and error I can at least make a replacement coil / wick if not a improvement. The wait for the mail kills me.

For your FIRST coil build: on a protank : why would you wait for 28 guage?
Use 30 or 32?

Or is it your first protank build but you're used to rebuildables already?

I am waiting because I have no wire. I ordered 28g on a whim. If I cant do it I'll get some 30 or 32. Maybe ill order anoher roll what would you suggest? Ive never rebuilt a coil.

What setting do you use on your MVP?

I notice the MVP2 actually STARTS at 6 watts which imo is rather high to start with; but you can always switch to vv mode and drop to 3 volts.

I run it almost exclusively at 6 watts, unless I'm using my iclear30( which is on it's last leg as is) then I turn it up to 7.5-8 watts

I started to build my coils yesterday, after a few tries it's quite easy to get a nice coil!
However i'm using 30g on a precisionscrewdriver that fits perfectly into the "base"odd thing is 4 wraps gives me 1.45 ohms. 5 wraps it's pending between 1.83 and 1.95.

Any idea why it's pending so much?

I suppose there's a little bit of shorting out going on.

I also started with 28 on protanks. 30 is better, and 29 is probably ideal. But 28 is definitely doable. 12 wraps tensioned contact coil around a 1.8 mm screw driver or drill bit should give you a 1.6 to 1.7 ohm coil. Check out the main protank coil thread here and look for the tutorial link in Mac Tech Vapor's posts. No easier or better way to build a tensioned contact coil. Mind you, it will be a tight fit, but if you are handy, you should be able to manage it with a little practice.

good luck.
