Ok
I havent rewickd anything before.
I also know theres the v3 or CE5 etc semi rebuildable one out
But i really want to try this rewicking thing on my stardusts, i have a few questions...

1.ss mesh, cotton... what to get + if wick then maybe what diameter?
2.Burning, i dry burn the stardust frequently until it does not perform well, 10-20 dry burns maybe.
So the mesh, cotton, silica wont burn when dry burned?
3. Kanthal wire? nichrome? diameter?

Thanks

I keep seeing 'ss mesh' and I'm not sure what it is really. I just bought some plain, unbleached cotton twine and it works great. Just find a small size and double it up if need be.

If you dry burn (you really shouldn't with a Stardust) then you will eventually burn the cotton and need to replace wicks frequently. As long as it stays wet though, it won't burn much at all...if any.

I use the NiChrome wire from madvapes. The one without the gauge specified is the easiest to work with, it's 34g.

Seriously though, there's no reason to ever dry-burn a Stardust. Just refill when it gets a little low, there's no penalty for filling too early but there is a penalty (in burnt wicks/coils) for filling too late.

EDIT

Oh ya...if you decide to build your own coils, I suggest wrapping the wire exactly 5 times. I had a problem with the ReDuX burning quickly and after a bit of reworking I found that the stock heads have the coils wrapped 9 times...way too much. 5 Times is perfect I've found.

Kanthal 32 gauge is the most common. It has a higher resistance than nichrome. The only time I'd use nichrome is if it is a long coil which most rebuilding dose not need. If you dry burn with a cotton wick it will burn. I got some 3mm silica for wick making but I have some 1mm for use with another atty. I have Ce5's and they will take the 3mm ok. Don't know about the others.

Could you explain that to me please? I've just recently started DIY with hardware and have much to learn. I've been using the NiChrome wire to make coils with good results, so I'm curious to know your reason for giving this advice.

EDIT

OK...a little studying and I see what stainless steel mesh/cotton hybrid means. I had never been introduced to anything like that before. Gonna have to give it a go.

I've always just used cotton twine and ran it through the coil...no problems.

Still would like to know the reason for not using NiChrome if anyone has an answer.

i rebuild all my coils with 32 gauge nicrome wire, wrapped around plain white cotton yarn (boild for 20 mins and dried). i usually wrap the coil 7 times and that gives me 2.2 ohms. i run all my tanks off of a ego-c twist at 4.0 volts. that is my perfect "toast". great vapor and amazing flavor. best advice i can give is to experiment until you find your sweet spot. anybody can tell you how to do it, but their method may not work for you needs. just keep tinkering until you find you perfect set-up and your set. it takes me about 5 mins to dissasemble, rebuild, reassemble and start vaping. good luck and i hope you are able to find your sweet spot!!

400-- 100-80/20 higher PG

I have only tried 325 since I use 70/30 & 60/40 and it works for me. YMMV.
Viscosty doesn't matter and 325 will not wick better than 400 or 500.

comparing oranges to oranges
PG will rise higher in a 400 mesh than on a 325 mesh.
Vg will rise higher in a 400 mesh than on a 325 mesh.
On the same 400 wick PG will rise higher than VG because of cohesion forces, but it will not rise higher on 325 than on 400,
All will rise higher and faster on #500

True, I used to dryburn my clearomizers, and things would get worse and worse. Then I opened one and realized I was damaging the wick thus making the wick burned and damaged. Got myself a new one, skipped dryburning altogether, just keeping it wet and happy all the time and it works for months....

I know no reason that you can't use Nichrome wire. Something that has a small % of aluminum or iron may be worse to use than NiChrome.

Have been dry burning my Vision v2 [Stardusts] since JUly 13 with no problems and no coil burn outs. Finally decided to tear one apart and rebuild with cotton. ONCE you replace the original wicks with cotton then i dont believe you can dry burn. got to go to work
