Can you give us more information such as single or dual, build specs of coil, watts used, sub or non sub, and device description? Are we talking 50/50 juice with nic mg.? Particular flavor or all flavors (DIY or store bought)? Avg. duration of time of inhale? Have you tried a different mod to see if it's the topper?
These are just some of the variables that may or may not have to be addressed. Thank you for your help.

It sounds like you might be sub-ohming. On those builds I have observed that some wires run much hotter than the remaining wires in the build. If your juice is able to contact those parts before vaporizing, I wouldn't be surprised if you get a scorched taste. I haven't made any sub ohm builds, so take this with a grain of salt. Also, you say that your wick is wet. Make sure that it isn't burnt. You could be vaporizing the juice faster than the wick can deliver it to the coils. The wick may appear to be wet when you open the deck for a look, but it is actually getting dry near the end of the hit.

Trust me I've pinched every wrap until it's glowed even, I've done everything the same for the last year and a half and it's been great...right now the juice I've got is a 30/70 ratio of pg/vg...6mg nic...and origin of flavoring unknown (buddy who works for a vape shop gives me his home brew for free) but it's all good kosher stuff....the build is just a standard dual nano set up, 4 wrap of 22guage on a 2.0 diameter screwdriver, running at 0.11 ohms, built on a dark horse rda (1mm leg length or distance from post)...on my ipv4s, pushing around 80-100watts, 2-3 second lung pulls......that cover about everything? haha

I've become a fairly nice builder, getting the ohms I want with what I've got...but I've become baffled with the fact that sometimes my builds will taste burnt way too quickly, but still be wet...I've tried using more cotton, less, making the piece that's inside the coil thicker and smaller....I'm just baffled, any suggestions?

The best tip I can give you without a million questions is to make sure your coils are spaced properly and to keep your wick to the point that it's "filling" the coil, but not so tight that you have to pull it through with excessive force. Good luck and stay safe.

I just re-did my wick, and I honestly think you're right, I mus have packed it to tight, or rolled it to the point where it was vaporizING faster than the fluid could travel haha, guess I've just never doubted my own wicking XD

I still seem to do that every once in a while, because for some reason my mind thinks "The more I wick, the more juice it can hold, the more clouds." When really overwicking can cause the juice not to flow as evenly, not to mention restricting airflow. Less is more,...sort of. Give it a try, I also think that immediately after a re-wick the material seems to have a "priming period." I've started soaking my builds overnight, seems to make a bit of a difference and kill that re-wick taste.

I thought that you might have been making coil builds that utilized different guages of wire. Some of those builds appeal to me like any other art. I'm still curious about whether or not your wick is scorched under the coil.
I thought that too, and have had that happen, but before rewicking, it didn't scortch, it just turned weird pink....wish I had taken photos

It sounds like you were just starting to scorch at the end of the hit. You aught to see the coils that my wife vapes on. I don't see how she can taste anything after vaping on those black abominations. I thought it was her juice that made that awful stink in the house. I have to keep the peace and keep my mouth shut.:rules:

Somethings to check:

-After you get your coils firing nicely and there are no hot spots or hot legs you want to make sure you do not distort or pull any wraps on the coil while threading the wick though.

-Make sure your coils are situated properly for air to hit the coil. Also make sure you are drawing enough air over the coils when you use it, sub ohm builds need more air if you plan on doing that.

-If you get a bad taste and think you may have burned your cotton you can take it out, wash it off (if you use a dark liquid) and look for any scorching to confirm if it actually scorched. Sometimes a build can taste "hot" from the above points without burning the wick right away.

That makes sense, but I also feel that leads to a kind of "expiring" thing for me...like it makes the coil work weird after being sat in juice ....idk, could be just me XD what ever your prefrence right haha, that's life

One quote that I've heard that totally applies to all of life, but also vaping for me is "The underlying state of our minds is dissatisfaction." I build something. A box, a coil, anything. The first thing is "how can I make this better? Build something and vape it, that's what I've had to start doing to get myself to shut the f*** up. Lol
