Rebuilding Vivi Nova questions

I want to rebuild my Vivi Nova heads it seems easy enough, but I don't know what kind of wire and wick to use, and where to purchase it. Suggestions?

Also about how many coils equals what resistance (roughly).

Most use Kanthal A-1 32-34 awg resistance wire. I'm using 33 awg (all I could find at the time) and 4 wraps is giving me low 2.0+ ohms and 5 wraps 2.7-2.9 ohms. Also using cotton crochet thread (two strands) for wick if that helps.

Nichrome wire works too and you will more likely be able to obtain it locally. Most large hobby shops carry it as "foam cutter replacement wire" as for wicks, you can use cotton or paper towel or ss mesh or even the ends of qtips. Lots of options out there!

I'd prefer not to use paper towels or q-tips for wick. I'd like to get some wick similar to the stock wick that came with the heads. I know there are some sites that sell both wire and wick, I'm just having a hard time finding one. If someone could point me toward a a good vendor I'd appreciate it.

Thank you. Of course he/she/they are out of stock... Guess I'll just keep checking back. I saw some Nichrome in 36 and 38 awg for a good price. Is that too thin to use for making coils?

You would need a lot of coils I think for this gauge. Not sure if there is room in the cup for this much material.

I'm sorry, I have it backwards. With 36-38 awg wire, you need fewer coils as the resistance is higher per inch. You may though heat too small an area of the wick due to the FEWER coils to stay in the 3.0 ohm range. If you have a good VV PV (up to 6 V), it may be ok.
