Hey guys, sorry if this is the wrong place for this thread. I was recently 'upgraded' and can no longer post in new members forum :/

Anyway, I feel like I'm ready to start experimenting with rebuilding my own Nova heads. I've read iffy things about the silica wicks, and decided the most natural route would be to use hemp. Are there any threads/links/personal experience you guys can show me to help me out? I've watched pbsurado's vid on rebuilding the heads, so I have a general idea, but other than that, zilch experience.

Some of these threads are pretty long, and have a lot of information interspersed with a lot of chat. I've been subscribed to each since they started, and I use mainly mini vivi novas with viscose bamboo thread.

That has a good tutorial on rebuilding Vivis, and some discussion on different ways to deal with the 'hot legs' issue.

I've built one of those welders, but haven't had much time to figure out how to make it work well. That's a possible way to use non-resistant wire.

Those have a lot of discussion about alternative wicks, and even some coil design discussion.

I tried cotton the other day...tasted like wet dog which I understand goes away after awhile but haven't heard of anyone using hemp...if u wanna try cotton tho u can get a giant roll of 100% cotton from rite aid for $5.

Yeah in that hemp thread linked up there, people were discussing the pros and cons of hemp vs cotton. Some dude said he tried a hybrid and that sounds cool as an experiment.
