I use a Kanger Pro tank on a VAMO V2. I bought because the build looked sturdy; i.e. Pyrex and stainless. I'd like to get into rebuilding, but i've heard it's hit and miss. Any ideas or suggestions how I should start?

You could start by rebuilding your protank wick and coil. There are several youtube videos on rebuilding the protank. You'll need wicking materials and wire, but the videos will cover that.
If you are looking to get into RBAs, start doing a lot of reading on the rba forum here on ECF. The RSST is a great RBA to start learning on.
I still use cartos but mostly use a Penelope and a Bulli A2 classic. The rebuilding is easy to catch onto as long as you do some reading here and watch a few videos. I really like the Bulli because of the simple set-up which literally only takes minutes to change the coil.
Hey there. You seem pretty new but you can certainly learn to do this if you are willing to go ahead and put in the time.
I don't know if you know this, but there are many videos on youtube about cleaning and dry burning the protank heads. With proper care and cleaning you should only have to recoil/rewick about once a month anyway. For me, $2 heads. It's like why bother?
protank is simple once you get started. I went through a few coils different resistance and what worked with my setup. after that, it's as easy as replacing the atomizer head.

RSST and Octopus by smoktech are very inexpensive and very good lil devices. You can order both together for about 40 bucks or less if you find the right site. But you gotta do the reading and research so you know what youre doing and dont get too frustrated and just throw the things at the wall. (I've been tempted to do so when I first started). But you'll get the hang of it. You may also want to look into getting into mechanical mods as well if you really want to get into rebuildables. I used to run a RSST on the Vamo when I first started getting to RBAs and it was a pain, mainly cuz of the vamo. Now my vamo is solely used as my ohm tester.

Rebuilding the Pro Tank has a learning curve, as all rebuildables do. Keep practicing and experimenting and it will become easier.
I just seen a video where it was rebuilt with an ss mesh wick, I tried it with a quick setup but need some time to get the gurgling problem sorted out.
