rebuilt OCC kanger mini. have some questions regarding ohm and how long?

Hi, so i just rebuilt my first ever coil, watching Rip's tutorial, it was actually easy. one question, i wrapped the coil, ( used the 28 wire thing) 6 times around the tiny screwdriver , and anyways, the flavor is great and the vapor is good, however my iStick50W reads 1.4 Ohm, however for Rip it read 1 Ohm and he wrapped it 5 times. Does the number of wraps increase or decrease the ohm? i know its a pretty newbie and dumb question, but how does it work and affect the ohm? also the wire itself affects it too?

One more thing, I used the stock coil about 2 weeks till i just rebuilt it, will this work pretty much same amount of time before it needs to be rebuilt? and will i need to change both the japanese cotton and the wire or just the cotton will do?

The only time you really need to rebuild the coil is if it blows or you are just bored and want to experiment. I've never had a coil actually blow yet. It is super easy just to rewick the OCC's with cotton, rayon, etc.

The first time to remove the original wicking can be tricky, though. You have to pick at it with a needle and tweezers, but once removed, subsequent rewicking is a breeze. I've been rewicking the original 1.2 coil for the past 3 months w/o problems.

More wraps for higher ohms. I use a 3mm Kuro coiler. 5 wraps of 24 gauge gives .5 ohms dead on. For a 1.2 coil, 5/6 wraps of 28 gauge on the same coiler gave me 1.2 as well. I do take a dental pick and space the coils just slightly before putting them in the OCC head.

plug in your wire size, ohm goal and inner diameter (size of screwdriver) that you are using to wrap the coils around

Also, if you are going to wrap your own coils, get yourself an ohm meter. Just going by a coil-wrapping app won't tell you if you have a short in your atomizer setup before putting it on you relatively expensive mod, but an ohm meter will.

Shorts can damage the electronics of regulated mods and cause bad things to happen to the batteries in unregulated mods when fired.

a good ohm meter can be had for $20-$30

One more piece of advice on the OCC Kanger coils if you rebuild it. I have found that going with micro coils instead of spaced coils works better for me. A microcoil expends it's heat at the coils and is less likely to heat up the legs and burn the rubber insulator. It's not a pleasant taste!

is the Ohm reader standard? I mean my atomizer will fit whatever ohm reader i buy or it has to be for electronic cigs? its just a standard plug that all atomizers will fit and is made only for this?

In the RiP Trippers video, he was using 26AWG Kanthal, which is why you're seeing the difference in resistance. Your wire has a higher resistance per foot.

A quick summary... The higher the wire gauge number, the smaller the wire gets. The smaller the wire, the higher the resistance is going to be. Think of it like a water hose, if you have a little skinny water hose it's going to take more effort to push water through that hose than if you had a big fat hose.

So even though you're using 28AWG, it still has quite a bit more resistance than 26AWG.

If you buy an ohm reader with a 510 connection, it should fit any atomizer. 510 threading is pretty much the standard these days.
