Okay so I bought a penstyle from Meltrex at MyEcig.com Your Online Shopping For Electronic Cigarettes.
It took Paypal a few days to actually send the e-check, but it cleared on 07/02/08. Mel mailed it that same day, and I received it the next day! 07/03/08.
I've had about 5 hours with it now. I got some strawberry and apple high cartridges with it.

First I'd like to talk about myecig.com's service. Mel is a good guy, and always responds to emails right away. Very friendly and prompt. He threw in some extra cartridges, and also waived shipping charges! (I live one city over from him which is also very nice) The batteries came charged. Everything was there and so far works great. (It took me a while to realize the charger cord box was under the foam that the cig is held in. I actually found it as I was writing an email to ask if one was supposed to be included. I felt like a dumbass)

I put in an apple cartridge and have been puffing on that for the last few hours.
This is way different from my Ruyan E-Cigar. I do like the fact that I now blow out smoke after I inhale. I can tell now that the e-cigar was more designed for not inhaling.

The vapor is plentiful, and tasty. The draw is very light. Lighter than my cigar, and is about the same as a real cig.

I really like the taste of the apple cartridges and am excited to try the strawberry. The amount of vapor produced is very close to a real cigarette. One thing I noticed is that there is almost no feel to the vapor. When I smoke my e-cigar you can really feel it in your throat. But this isn't really a big deal. The nicotine hit is still there, and I actually smoked this thing a little too much and got a bit of a headache. Maybe the regular cartridges will be different.

Edit: I wanted to talk abou the e-cig itself. It's all white with black mouthpiece. I like the look of it. It's lighter (not as heavy) than I'd thought it would be. It has the small gray rings around it, just like a real cig. It feels good in my hand. Better than the e-cigar. I looks well made and I can't see any flaws. The batteries screw on straight. I like the fact that the LED at the end slowly gets brighter, instead of turning on right away.

So far I love it. I'll alternate between this and my cigar. I'll use the cigar for stealth smoking at work or in buildings, and this one for normal smoking.

One question I have, is if anyone knows what other cartridges fit in this?
I'm going to order some cartridges from Janty when they open the US store for my cigar, and I wonder if their penstyle cartridges will fit?

I really like Mel's cartridges and I'm sure I'll order more (especially since he's so close). But I'd also like to have other options.

So overall I'm very happy. I don't think I'll need a real cig again after this. And as long as this holds up for the next 30 days or so (to get my money's worth), Mel has a new customer.

I'll give an update here in a week to let you know how it goes.

Edit: Here is a video of me puffing on it. I smoked out of this cartridge for 10 minutes before the video. Just because the smoke seems to be a LOT heavier when the cartridge is brand new, then around the 10 minute mark it is set at the level it will be until it's empty.

(I couldn't figure out how to embed a video on the new forum. If anyone knows, let me know please.)

I was thinking of including video and other such things, but since Rat has video reviews of the same e-cig so I thought I'd leave them out. (Do you guys want a video demo? I'll make one...)

The more videos the better. We enjoy watching them, so if you want to please make one.

I tried Mel's apple and strawberry and like both of them.

a 1 week video and a two week video would be good- will be interestign to see how it's still performing in a few weeks- My SmartFixx pens are really startign to dissappoint and discourage me performance wise, and I'm thinking of givign up E-Smoking unless I can find a more reliable product, and the more videos we have to compare products with hte better in my opinion

Naz,im sure we all get discouraged from time to time mate.i think thats perfectly normal.

to continue to do this,i think you really have to really want to e-smoke,despite the setbacks along the way...

many have fallen by the wayside because of the frustrations involved with this practice at the moment...we can only hope it will improve sooner rather than later.

the trick, for the time being,is to find a good local supplier and keep plenty of spares.
thats the only way to do it currently thats relatively stress free,IMO...although i know its a harder strategy to adopt in the USA because of the expense involved...

I edited the post and included a link to a video demo of the e-cig... I couldn't figure out how to embed in the new forum. Here's the link:

This is after smoking that cartridge for 10 minutes... There is much more vapor when the cartridge is brand new, but I wanted to show normal usage.

I was meaning to do a one week update, but I missed the week so here it is at 11 days.

I really like this e-cig. After a week it is still going strong, and doing better than it was when I first got it.

It was a little weird. The first day or two I had it, the vapor produced was a little bit better than Rat's 1 week video update for his. Very good vapor, but not like it is now.

On the second day it ended up being pretty clogged. I had some liquid leak through to the battery part, but that has only happened that one time. Not sure what happened; it was probably my fault or maybe just a cartridge I put in that was too wet. This is my first penstyle.
I had to suck hard to get anything out of it.
That night I let it drain, and did a little rinsing with rubbing alcohol.
The next day it was back to working normal.

A day after that, out of nowhere, it started making vapor like crazy. It was like something clicked in, and made it work perfectly from that point on.
It has been that way ever since. Very thick, full vapor. :D

I guess there's a break in period for some of these things.

The taste is great. Apple is still my favorite, and strawberry a second favorite, but only because of the very light taste.
I tried the vanilla from the sampler pack, and it didn't have much of a vanilla taste. Though the vanilla seemed to have more of a nicotine hit? Not sure.

I tried a menthol cartridge. Yuck! I hate menthol cigarettes. The vapor tasted almost exactly like a light menthol cigarette. For you menthol smokers I would recommend his menthol cartridges because they're a lot like the real thing. This was the first menthol cart I ever tried.

I can get some pretty big drags off this e-cig, so the nicotine "hit" is good. So is the throat feel.

As for batteries... The batteries do take a while to charge compared to my Ruyan e-cigar. From being fully dead it's about 4-5 hours to charge fully, which I hear is normal for pen styles. I'm just not used to that because my cigar is about an hour to charge.

Battery life is very good. I can smoke this thing from late morning till I get off work at 9 at night on the same battery, then have to change it by the time I get home. I puff on my cigar a little bit during the day but most of my time is spent with this penstyle.

Mel got spare atomizers on his site about a week after I bought this, as well as a new special: A penstyle with two spare atomizers. Too bad I missed out. I was going to order a spare atomizer this week but my paycheck wasn't very good so I'll have to hold off a few weeks. This atomizer is still going strong so I'm not too worried about it. He did say he might offer discounts on spares for people who already bought e-cigs, but he has already done too much for me.

This leaves me to Mel's service.

The only time I haven't received a response to an email in less than 5 hours, is the weekend he left town, and it took a whole day for him to get back to me.
He's answered all of my questions, and is very friendly.

He helped me out tremendously by donating a penstyle kit to my sick grandma! It's in another topic, but she has to quit smoking because of lung cancer. I asked the forum for advice about what to get her, and he offered a free starter kit for her. I mean come on...
(BTW I got shipping confirmation for that today, and he even added something extra in the package for her)

You don't get better than that.

I know there's been a lot of people on here praising myecig.com and Mel's service... Almost constantly. But it's all true!

Thank you again, Mel.

Here is the updated video of the vapor for day 11:

I bought two pen style e-cigarettes from e-cig.com. Mine never worked right. The only way I can get any smoke out of it is to unscrew it from the battery, blow into the top of it, screw it back together, then I get one or two puffs before it craps out agan. Then I have to wait a while before I can do it again.

My wife had the other one. After a few hours of use it started working great. Lots of smoke. She actually quit smoking for two days. Then her's crapped out. No more smoke. Quality control of the e-cig is terrible. If yours works, thank your lucky stars and keep your fingers crossed.

So, now I have 40 cartridges, two batteries, and two atomizers for the e-cig comming from China. Hopefully that will solve the problem. If not, I have also ordered an e-cig from nJoy. Somehow I have to figure a way to use the e-cig cartridges in the nJoy. Anyway, that is my rant. Not having much luck and about $400 invested so far.

Sorry to hear about your problems, Brian, but you're actually lucky. I have an E-Pack, and they won't replace it unless I ship the bad one back to them first.
You should be happier with your Njoy. They are better devices, and the customer service is better and more convenient than e-cig.com.

But, this thread is actually about Myecig.com, a very different company. He's a small reseller of generic models, and a member of this forum, named Meltrix. His devices are "just" generics, but they are top quality generics, as good as the Njoy.

That won't be hard - just remove the fibre from the e-cig cart and place it in an empty NJOY cart (fibre removed).

It will not last as long as the NJOY cart but you will be able to use up all your e-cig carts.

OR

Remove the fibre from your e-cig cart and place it in a syringe and squeeze it into a NJOY cart that you left the fibre in.

I don't remember if the e-cig carts fit the NJOY - if it doesn't it may only be a little loose.

Small update...
One of the batteries died on me. And stupidly when the battery died it got stuck on and cooked the atomizer it was hooked up to.
It cooked in my pocket for a good 10 seconds before I realized it was stuck on. So the battery doesn't turn on at all now. The atomizer still works, but has burnt plastic taste. So I can't really use it. I thought at first I could smoke the bad taste out of it. I also cleaned it with 91% alcohol. I got MOST of the bad taste out, but when I compare it to a new atomizer I notice a pretty big difference.

So Mel has already replaced the atomizer, and said he would send out a battery if this one was broken so I'm not too worried. The battery lasts me almost all day anyway and the charger is small enough to take in my work bag.

I gave my grandma her Myecig penstyle last night. She seems to like it but I couldn't stay long to see her try it out much. The Smartfixx zero nic cartridges fit perfectly. I think we might order NJoy carts next time because the Smartfixx have almost no flavor.

So yep I've had my first failure of an e-cig part now.
I feel like I'm now really part of the club :D

Mel has been great helping me out with this stuff and very fast with getting back to me.

My appologies to Myecig.com. The names are so close to each other I thought they were the same. Most of you seem pretty happy with your e-cigs so maybe I got off to a bad start with mine. My wife is pretty heartbroken about loosing hers so I'll end up giving her the njoy.

Thanks
Brian

What he wrote was "when the battery died it got stuck on". He didn't write that it got burnt or burned.

ONE WAY it can get stuck on is if juice leaks into the battery. After you've had your ecig for a bit you will see how that can happen. The other ways, you'll have to write the companies in China and ask them. ;)
