I bought a fair amount of tfa samples blindly. They are NOT consistent, in percentages or quality. That said, some of the flavors are great. About 80% of my successful recipes contain a little Bavarian cream. Has "custard notes" though. It seems in general, their fruits have quite an edge (their flavors seems strong to me) and benefit from mellowing flavors, steeping, and/or breathing.

Overall, recommended, but I'd look for lists of flavors to buy. I missed some great ones and bought some stinkers. The black cherry is utterly disgusting.

I'm still pretty new to diy, so take with a grain of salt.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here!:)

I agree with Taydee. Don't just buy all your flavors from one flavoring company. I primarily use Flavor Arts but there are some flavors that TFA/Capella and others do better (and better/best is subjective depending on what you like). Start out with a few recipes you want to make, research those flavors to see who does it best and then try making a few recipes.

For all things DIY head on over to the DIY ELiquid Forum. You will not be able to post there until you get in your first 5 posts and the servers update at :25 past the hour. Make sure to read all the "stickies". Also check out the blogs by ECF members Hoosier & dannyv45.

For a juice mixing calculator consider using eJuiceMeUp

Is that calculator recommended - the ejuice me up...good for those of us trying to mix for the first time? I haven't downloaded it yet (I'm on a chromebook at the moment) but I have all my brand spanking new supplies out on the counter (in a lock box) and am dying to try to make my own. Just feeling super cautious about it since I know there's risk there and I don't want to make a huge muck of it.

I buy all me DIY supplies and flavorings primarily from Wizard Labs They have a great selection of top extract flavors. Also a selection of non pg based extracts.

I pretty much just choose the flavors that sound good to me, but do check and see if same flavor is available from multiple brands. Will often choose the Natural and organic flavors if available.

Have been happy with most of me choices. Ones that work well for me, get reordered and become house select recipes.

Just be safe but have fun with it. Your are going to make some things that tastes disgusting and some stuff that is awful. ANd a few gems among them It comes with the territory. Making a one note liquid is pretty doable. it is the more complex flavors that take practice. And everyone is different so you will have to look at a recipe and decide for yourself sometimes. Always error low you can fix that. too high can be fixed but is more difficult. And you get to a point where you really don't want to waist more ingredients on something. I have 15 flavors that i will probably never use again. One day I will trade with someone for some things I like better.

I have like some of all the flavors but have found to my taste Flvour art and capella to be most consistent. But my fave tobacco so far is inawera burley. The nice thing about DIY is you can take a chance on a bunch of flavors for $50. Thats like 3 or 4 quality premade juices

Thanks! I mixed my first one - just a single flavor one so that I can test how mixing goes and not accidentally poison myself. I used Sweet Tobacco from NicVape and it tastes very odd, very weird aftertaste. But, it's only been a few days and I've read here that tobacco flavors take more time in the bottle before they taste good.

I sure hope so.

I used the ejuice me up and it was pretty straightforward for a single flavor juice. I mixed at 5% and it's just a small batch. So, thanks for the calculator recommendation!

Welcome Ann!

I started DIYing a few months ago. I have mostly TFA/CAP/LA flavors. I have a couple of FlavourArt bottles and maybe a couple of other "less-popular" brands. I run anywhere from 5-15% flavorings per bottle. I am not disciplined enough to record my attempts in the eJuiceMeUp calculator, but I always write on my label my proportions (in case it's really good and I want to repeat it!)

Start with small batches, and do be aware that it may take the blend some time to "mellow"/"meld"/"steep" before it's any good. I mixed a recipe that another member had shared with me. Peach/Blueberry/Coffee-cake type flavor. It was VERY peachy right after mixing (I'm VERY impatient too!) However, I broke it out today (been at least a month, I think, since I'd mixed it.) The peach is not as powerful, and I finally started catching a bit of the blueberry. I'll certainly mix it again. So, be patient.

Susan covered you with the blogs to read. Hoosier does a great job of explaining the "flavor spectrum". Even though you mixed at 5%, it's possible that's too much for *that* flavoring. Not all manufacturers are the same. You may have three different blueberries, and you can use one at 5%, one at 10%, one at 15%, just to get the same result.

Just be willing to experiment. :)

thanks for the comments . I used some flavoring from vaporshots and that was before I had proper measuring tools for the flavoring and I went by 20 drops to equal a ml and I don't think that was accurate. ive since bought proper tools. I mixed up 7 things of cappelas and think they are all going to be good. I will say the vaporshots flavoring seemed to stay really clean and didn't thicken up in my nautalis which is good cause I go through coils like crazy.
